Chapter 21

The weekend had been rough.

Though it started out fun, the rest of it was filled with tears. She didn't know why she was letting this situation affect her so much, but it probably had to do with the fact that she'd never been betrayed and lied to from someone she was dating, quite like this... ever.

So she'd been blind to his deception. Joke's on her, at the end of the day.

She was certain that if Ross hadn't been there to hold her that night, she would've crumbled, but instead.. she spent the day in his warm arms, as they layed on her bed, head resting on his chest, and dried tears on her cheeks.

There was up's and down's to it, where she thought she'd been done crying for the night, and then suddenly a thought would trigger her, and the tears would come back like they never left.

Ross did his best. He got her whatever she needed at all times, and even took her out for ice cream to cheer her up, before hesitantly dropping her off at home to get to his.

She promised she was fine and after all he had to leave at some point. Still he called her the next day, and had been at the foot of her trailer early Monday morning.

Every time he showed up, she'd smile, and slowly but surely, her tears had vanished- because she knew that what happened didn't matter, she had other people in her life that would support her through anything.

Ross Lynch, being in the frontlines. She absolutely adored him for it.

She'd ignored any sort of contact from Harris, and once he realized she wasn't responding, he started spamming her.

When she went to block him, one of the texts caught her eye

"If this is about the phonecall, just know that I don't usually do that type of thing. She was just a distraction, and I'm an idiot. I miss you.'

Turns out, when you leave a person to talk to themselves enough, they start being a little too honest.

She suspected cheating as well, but that one text confirmed it, and it was the last straw- where she knew she had to close the book on him.

So she ended up blocking him and losing his number- out of sight, out of mind. There was not one single part of her body that needed any sort of explanation from him, she already knew everything, and one day, she was certain he'd figure out the why of it all.

If he were smart enough to recognize it, of course.

Maybe it made her look weak, but she couldn't move on otherwise. The less she knew, the better.

Ross' attitude to the news though, was the complete opposite. He was ready to tear the guy into two, and he really wanted to see him- but she decided she'd had enough of those violent fights.

He wanted revenge on her name. To her, it wasn't worth it. He did then, promise not to hurt him physically, so that was one thing.

Fuck, she got distracted thinking about the situation again.

Come on Laura, the event isn't going to plan itself. She sighted, crossing out some of the things in her list, and when she looked up, she was surprised to see Dakota.
