Chapter 8

"Hey."

I'd been a day or two since they'd last talked, after that day on set, as they were scheduled to go in in different times.

But she wasn't going to lie - what did happen on that last day, was partially the reason she hadn't texted him yet.

So.. when he calls her out of nowhere, while she's doing her laundry, she.. hesitantly picks up.

"Hi." is all she can reply with.

She's crunched down in front of the washing machine, in the process of shoving dirty clothes in for a wash.

"Do you wanna go out tonight?"

She immediately stops what she's doing, as her eyebrows raise "Uhm.. why?"

"My mom really wanted to invite you out for a dinner with us." he explains slowly "She's staring at me waiting for your response."

Oh

That made more sense.

Still, she was surprised about the invite.. why would they bother to invite her? I'd been... god.. fucking years since she'd seen them all together.

She'd met them here and there, but hadn't purposely went out with the Lynch's since the Austin and Ally days, when her and Ross were glued at the hip.

At this point though, they had no reason to invite her.. but maybe it was something to do with her working with Ross again. Who knew.

So, what would be the harm?

"Sure." she replies "What time?"

"Eight and I'll send you the location." he clarifies.

She nods, like he could see her "Okay."

Then.. there's a minute of silence too long, that makes her feel uncomfortable.

She's about to hang up, when he speaks "Have you been missing me?"

The question takes her off guard, as she furrows her eyebrows.

"What could possibly make you think I do?"

She's fully sitting in the bathroom floor now, phone in her lap, as she fixes her hair into a ponytail.

"I'm quite... miss-able?" he questions himself.

She can't help, but start laughing at that, and he can't help.. but smile at the other end of the line.

He'd done it.. he'd fucking broke the tension- in such a dorky way too.

"Are you?" she teases back "I've had quite a peaceful few days."

"You don't say?"

She can almost picture his raised eyebrow, and smirk.

"Mhm." she presses her lips.

"Well then, I'm gonna have to ruin your peace."

She smiles, leaving out a sigh "You always do."
