My Two Month Break From School Has Led Me To Realize Things About My Life.
One Of Which Is How Well-Traveled I Seem.
You See, My Bestfriend And I Got Into This Conversation In Line At An Amusement Park. In The Past Month Or So, I've Been 13 Hours Away From Home, Traveling To New York City With My Best Friends. Then, Driving 5 Hours To Stay In A Cabin With Seven Of My Cousins. While We Were In Line, We Were Two Hours Away From Home, And This All Happened In Such A Short Time. The Older Gentleman In Front Of Us Just Stared At The Two Short Teenagers Behind Him, Both Talking About How NYC Was A Poorly Planned Out Trip. He Definelty Got The Wrong Impression Of Us, And As He And His Daughter Sat Next To Us On 'The Drop', I Was Thinking Of How Others Must Have Saw Us On That Day.
Both Of Us Were Wearing Jet Black T-Shirts, In The Beginning Of July In South Carolina. One Of Us Was Even Wearing Jeans, So You See Two Sweltering Kids Running Around And Talking About Social Justice And Fan Fictions In Line. We Probably Seemed Insane, Especially To The Four Asian High-Schoolers Behind Us On 'Night Hawk'.
The Best Ride Was 'The Fury', We Sat Next To Two Forty-ish Year Old Men On The World's Fastest And Tallest 'Giga' Coaster, Top Speed 95 MPH And An 81' Degree Angle Down. Our Photo Was The Two Of Us Looking 10X Older Due To The Wind Almost Peeling Our Skin Back, And The Others Terrified. A Lady Behind Us, Maybe 25 Or So, Was Scared Out Of Her Mind, And I Felt Bad For Exclaiming To Her That I Thought It Was 'The Most Amazing Ride In The Park'.
It's Currently Midnight On July 11th. My Little Sister Has Probably Had One Of a the Best Weeks Of Her Life. Three Days Ago She Had A Sleepover At Her Best Friend's House. Both Girls Are Seven, And My Sister Is Currently In The Stage Of 'I LOVE MY BESTIE SO MUCH', All She Ever Wants To Do Is Hang Out With Her. Yesterday They Went Bowling Together. Tonight, Or Should I Say Yesterday Night, She Lost A Tooth, And Tomorrow She's Going To Another Birthday Party. I, On The Other Hand, I Feel As Though My Summer Is Currently Being Sucked Away By Two Summer Reading Books (And The Projects That Come With) And Everything Fading By Fast. The Past Month's Euphoria Is Fading Off, And Now I Only Have My Birthday To Look Forward To.
My Birthday Is In 15 Days, And It Feels Much Farther Away. For The Past Three Years Or So, The Excitement Of The Holidays, Birthdays, Or Any Other Major Celebration Has Just Felt Less Fun, Like My Childhood Is Slowly Seeping Out Of My Pores. By Next Christmas I'll Be Just Like Scrooge, Only Younger And Well, Female.
While Writing That I Remembered That Today's My Cousin Sophia's 15th Birthday, Literally Only Because Her And Her Sisters Have The World's Easiest Dates To Remember (7/11, 5/1, And 10/4).
To Put It Into Perspective, When I Stayed In That Smokey Mountains Cabin With My Cousins, I Mean I Was Sharing A Room With A Fourteen Year Old Cheerleader, A Fourteen Year Old Dancer, A Thirteen Year Old Cheerleader, An Eleven Year Old Cheerleader, An Eleven Year Old Lacrosse Player, And My Sister. It's Not That I Don't Love My Cosuins, It's Just That, Appearance Wise We're All Super Close. But With Personality And Interests, We Were All Way Off Base. I Honestly Felt Like The Black Sheep Of The Family, The Literal Outcast. It Sucks. It Honestly Hurts When You're The One Cousin That Stands Out. I'm Still Glad That I Was NOT The Cousin Who Has A Scar On Her Arm From 'Whipping' So Hard She Hit Her Elbow On The Bathroom Door (That Was The Dancer), But The One Who Got The High Score On A Mrs.Pacman Machine. Funny Note: Colemann (Lacrosse Player) Started Making My Sister Cry Will I Was Playing By Threatening To Plug The Machine Out. I Knew He Wouldn't DomIt, My Sister Wasn't So Sure.
