The air was still and full of static. Occasionally, our eyes would meet each other. Kev's face was pale blank with his eyes jittering back and forth between the sticky notes and marker resting on the table. Naomi was perfectly frozen and her usually tired eyes were full of pure confusion. I didn't even notice my hand was reaching towards the sticky note until Kev jolted out of his seat.

"Eek what's wrong with you?"

"What-"

"Don't touch the weird dark magic note thing! Seriously why would-"

"but-"

"No! Throw away the marker,"

"Kev, it did my homework-"

"Did you not see the ink tornado just now?!"

"It perfectly copied your writing Eek," Naomi examined the sheets of paper. "Not like it was readable in the first place but the answers are actually more coherent than anything you could've written."

"Yea and that's creepy! Just-"
"It was kinda cool though"
"WHAT? No it was terrifying, how did it copy Eek's handwriting."
"Yeah but it isn't even that scary"

While they were busy arguing I picked up the small stack of sticky notes and read them aloud.

"Dear user, thank you for your sample. I am Teon. Your Artificial Intelligent assistant. Teon is capable of reading and completing any form of request."

Kev sat down back on his chair with his hands clasped together whereas, Naomi leaned forwards with curiosity.

"Teon's abilities are currently limited to simple questions but the more updates and information that Teon gains..." I paused. "The more wonders Teon can perfect..." I concluded.

"Simple questions huh," I stuffed the notes in my pocket and picked up the pen.

"Eek, if it considers Honors History homework as easy questions then imagine what it can do with enough updates!" Naomi said.

"Woah woah, no, the- the marker has AI? How is that even possible? Who made it?" Kev protested.

"I guess we can ask the pen..." I crouched down to meet the pen at eye's level and said "Teon who made you?"

Only to be met with an awkward silence.

"It's a pen it doesn't have a mic obviously" Kev pestered.

"Maybe write down the question first?" Naomi tossed me her pencil,

"Right right," I was about to write down the question when the bell suddenly rang.

"Great, great, ok." Kev brushed his hair back and readjusted his glasses. "Kev don't touch the marker. Naomi you better not-"

"What do you mean 'you better not'! I'm not the one with the cursed pen"
"Yeah but you always put Eek in trouble,"
"It's not my fault that he likes shortcuts and is easily-"

"Guys!" I shook my hands infront of me in frustration. "Look lets just get to class and figure this out later."

"But what about the marker?" Naomi questioned.

"Well I got a spare pencil box-"
"Seriously? You just so happen to have a spare pencil box?"
"Yeah and atleast we have something to keep the marker in-"
"But why do you have a pencil box! We're highschoolers!"
"You never know!"
"Yeah you never know when a magic marker is going to need a container"

I grabbed the box from Kev and carefully plucked the marker from the table.

"Alright, I better get going right now" Kev scrambled to get his book from the floor and rushed towards the doorway. He grabbed hold of the doorframe before exiting and reminded us "Don't use it!" Before disappearing.

"We better get to class." I plopped the marker box into my bag of unorganized sheets of paper.

"Here's your homework by the way," The packet faced towards Naomi and yet I could still discern the rows of text. It didn't make any sense. How did it know my name?

I grabbed the packet and shoved it down my backpack.

"I'm pretty sure I'm wide awake now." Naomi said as we were rushing down the hallway.

"Not for long, today is literally just lecture notes."

"Fantastic..." Naomi began. We turned the corner and were only a few steps away from the door. I raised my hand in preparation to open the door. That's when I noticed strange spots on my thumb. I clasped the doorknob and just... froze... The top of my head leaned against the door as my eyes stared down my hand.

Did I get ink on my hand earlier?

A ringing in my hear was met with a frustrated groan from Naomi.

"Eek, we're late! Just move," She swiped my hand away from the door and opened it up.

The rest of the class was a blur. Naomi drifted in and out of sleep. The teacher mumbled incoherent sentences. All I could think about was the last note that was left by the marker.
