Setting: 1700's.
"Keep your chin up. Do not slouch. Smile, be gentle, be kind and walk with pride." I repeated this to myself over and over. The man cleared his throat. "May I introduce you to Princess Angelina." That was my cue. I took a deep breath and walked down the stairs.

I looked around curiosly and began to feel a tense atmosphere around me or so I believed. This was my first ball and I had to admit I was a little bit nervous. People began to murmur and look at me. I scanned the room and looked for my father and mother. I walked up to my parents and bowed.

"Hello darling" my father greeted. "Do you like the ball?" "Yes thank you" I lied. Despite me being here I'd rather be riding my horse right now. I was more of an outside girl rather than a proper lady that stayed inside all day learning my duties as a princess.

On my free time I would work on my archery or fight bandits. I lived a secret life as a princess. I was the complete opposite princess. My father smiled. My mother gave a worried look and asked "Sweetie are you ok? You seem to be a little quiet." "Yes I'm just a little nervous" I lied again. "Why don't go dance that might take your mind off it."

I nodded my head and walked away. I saw many people dancing to the elegant music. I watched them dance side to side. A few men asked me to dance and I danced to a few songs. My body became exhausted and so I looked for a glass of wine to satisfy my thirst.

I found one of the waitors that were serving wine and grabbed one from the tray. I walked to a corner and I was about to lift the wine to my lips. "Wait Princess!" Nicole, my poison tastier said. Oh yeah, I forgot every time I wanted to eat or drink I had to have someone check if there was poison in it.

She ran to me in a hurry. She was panting by the time she came over. I gave her the drink to taste. "Ok it's good" Nicole said. She walked back. After that happened, I took a sip and began to hum to the music. A man walked up to me and gave a bow. I curtsied and looked up.

He had chocolate brown hair, blueish green eyes, wide shoulders, a tall slender body and looked around my age. "Hello Princess, you look ravishing this evening" he said and planted a kiss on my hand. I blushed and looked away.

"Would you like to dance?" "Yes, I would be honored to" I said and placed my hand on his. My other hand on his shoulder. His hand was big and warm covering my hand. I looked into his eyes and his met mine. We stared into each other eyes for a long time. He then asked me "Is this your first ball?" "Yes."

"Mine too" he said and smiled. "How did you know this was my first ball?" I asked while swaying to the music. "You looked lost and confused" he said and spun me around. "I was but you helped." "Angelina and Luke would you please come here?" My father requested.

We walked together and bowed to my parents. "I am glad that you have met Prince Luke your childhood friend" my father said. "Wait you are a Prince?" I asked. "Yes" he said. "But wait Angelina is my childhood friend?" Luke asked confused. "Yes your father and I use to get together with your parents, Prince Luke" my mother said.

Luke nodded and looked at me. "You look tired would you like to join me outside at the balcony?" He then looked at my parents waiting to be excused. "That is all" my Mother said and waved us off. He led my hand outside to the balcony. I closed my eyes and felt the wind blow.

"Why didn't you tell me you were a prince?" I asked. "Because I wanted to be treated normally." I sighed and looked at him. "I am sorry for not telling you sooner." "It's ok I would of done the same" I said.

We were silent for awhile. "So childhood friends huh?" Luke said. "Yeah... Wait, did you happen to be the little boy who would roll down the hill with me. At a big apple tree?" His eyes widened "that was you?" "Yeah it was."

"I always knew that beautiful girl I fell in love with would be even more beautiful when she grew up" he said held my cheek. "You loved me?" I said shocked. "Back then I did and I still do." "You still love me?" He laughed; "Yes, I've loved you ever since I laid my eyes on you" he said and then put my hand to his heart.

I could feel it beating so quickly. I smiled and he whispered in my ear. "May I kiss you Princess?" "Mmm... maybe if you stop calling me Princess, Luke." "As you wish Prin- I mean Angelina. I giggled and he pulled me into a sweet kiss.

He wrapped his arm around my waist and his other hand cupped my cheek. We pulled away and he gazed at me lovingly. He caressed my cheek still holding me in his arms. "I love you Angelina, my beautiful beautiful Angelina."
