I reached for the letter opener resting nearby—a slender blade with a smooth, polished handle that caught the light as I picked it up.
I took the letter grasping the envelope in one hand, I slid the tip of the opener beneath the flap. A soft whisper of paper tearing filled the quiet room as I guided the blade along the edge, the sound both satisfying and oddly soothing, yet I feel a heavy ambiance that the letter might be containing.
As I opened the letter to read it I took a sip of coffee, a pounding feeling from my chest won't stop something was definitely happening.;
Dear Detective Ace,
I hope this letter finds you well, though I must admit, my words come with an urgency I never expected to convey. The peace of our little town Burnham has been shattered—two sudden and brutal murders has happened in just 4 days that passed.
As you know, it falls to me to investigate these horrors, and I fear there is more to this than what meets the eye. "Lorence, ready me tickets to Burnham I will be going there in assisting a friend back in my hometown, I will be staying at my parents home please inform them beforehand as well, I will be gone for the momentary" I took a deep breathe and turned to William "Take care of the place now Will!" Lorence bowed down and hugged me "As always madam I will."
I clutched free from Lorence's embrace, the carriage has been waiting for me.
