Beomgyu blinks a few times, his eyes still wide. "w...what d-do you want?"
"Why do I need to want something? Can't a guy just sit here?" Yeonjun says in a sarcastic tone, but he's asking himself the same thing. Why is he sitting with Beomgyu?
"Y..yeah..." Beomgyu says quietly. But he is still expecting Yeonjun to do something, considering their dynamic as the bully and the quiet loser. Plus Yeonjuns history of bullying him. He literally slammed his head into the locker just hours ago.
Yeonjun just shrugs, resting his back against the tree. He looks up at the blue sky, trying to make it seem like he just wants to escape the lunch room and relax. He just can't get over how cute Beomgyu looks with the sunlight on him and how focused he was on his book.
Beomgyu picks his book back up, trying to read but being too distracted and wary of Yeonjun's presence.
And Yeonjun can sense the his nervousness. He glances over at him, he's looking so focused on his book, but he's not even taking in the words on the page, he's just staring at it. He can tell Beomgyu is still on edge around him and is just waiting for him to do something.
He sighs internally, not sure what to say or how to try and relax the boy. He watches a few moments longer, his eyes flicking to the boy's legs. The ones he and his friends kicked this morning. He notices a bruise starting to form on the boy's leg and feels another pang of guilt.
Yeonjun can't take it anymore, the guilt that is. He knows it's his fault the boy has a bruise on his leg. He wants to say something to try and make up for it. Even if it's just a little bit.
But why does he want to make up for it? Why is he feeling this way? He's never felt guilty like this before. Is he turning soft?
He lets out a frustrated sigh, his eyes still fixed on the boy's legs. He speaks after a moment. "Let me see your leg"
"Huh?..." Beomgyu looks up from his book.
Yeonjun points at the boy's leg "The one we kicked this morning, let me see it."
Beomgyu pulls his trouser leg down a bit to try and hide it "I...it's f-fine..." he says quietly.
Yeonjun lets out a huff of annoyance, of course the boy would try and hide it. He gets impatient and reaches over to pull the boy's trouser leg up, revealing the bruise on his knee.
Beomgyu lets out a small gasp as Yeonjun quickly reaches over.
"I knew it" Yeonjun mutters as he looks at the boy's bruised knee.
He gently pushes the boy's trouser leg further up, so more of the leg is showing. Beomgyu hisses slightly as Yeonjun touches his painful bruise.
He looks at the bruise. It's slightly purple in colour and pretty big. It's already a big size after just a few hours and will probably become more painful. He looks at it intently for a moment before speaking "Does it hurt?"
Beomgyu shakes his head, looking uncomfortable with Yeonjun inspecting the bruise. "N-no...i-it d-doesn't hurt much..." he lies.
"Stop lying, I can tell it hurts," Yeonjun says in an annoyed tone. He knows the boy is lying, his knee is bruised and swollen. There's no way it doesn't hurt.
The bell suddenly rings. Beomgyu quickly stands up grabbing his bag and putting his book away. "I-i...I need to get b-back to class..." He says like he's in a hurry. But it's clear he's just uncomfortable with this interaction with Yeonjun.
Yeonjun watches as the boy jumps to his feet after the bell rings. The boy obviously can't stand being around him for too long. He can't help but find the boy's actions somewhat adorable. "Hold on"
He quickly gets to his feet, standing in front of the boy to block his path.
Beomgyu tries to get around him, desperately wanting to be left alone.
But Yeonjun easily blocks the boy's path again, grabbing the boy's arm gently to keep him in place.
Beomgyu freezes, like any sudden movement will cause Yeonjun to lash out at him.
Yeonjun can feel the boy tense up at being touched, he knows Beomgyu is thinking he's going to start hurting him again. The thought leaves another pang of guilt in his chest. "I'm not gonna hurt you, calm down"
"I...I-I just w-want to get to class...p-please..." Beomgyu stutters out.
Yeonjun rolls his eyes and continues to hold onto the boy's arm. "I said I'm not gonna hurt you, so stop acting like I am"
"Y-you would a-any other time...w-what's t-there stopping you now?" Beomgyu says quietly and nervously.
Yeonjun is caught off guard by this comment, being a bit shocked that the boy even had enough confidence to say that to him.
"Well, I guess I'm not in the mood to beat you up again today. Happy?"
"T-then why a-are you stopping me from going to class?" Beomgyu questions.
Yeonjun ponders the question for a moment. Why is he even keeping the boy here, what did he even want to do? He eventually comes up with an excuse.
"I need to talk to you about something"
"O...okay?..." Beomgyu says looking up at him with his beautiful, yet fearful eyes.
Yeonjun notices the look in the boy's eyes. It's a mix of fear and confusion. For some reason, he isn't in the mood to tease him. He just wants to try and talk to him.
"Not here, I don't want people overhearing," Yeonjun says as he lets go of the boy's arm.
Beomgyu doesn't want to go somewhere private, alone with Yeonjun. But he feels like if he refuses it'll just end up with Yeonjun beating him up.
Yeonjun sees how uncomfortable the boy looks at the idea of them talking alone. He rolls his eyes at the look on the boy's face.
"God, I'm not going to beat you up. I just want to talk"
Beomgyu hesitantly nods. Agreeing to go with Yeonjun.
Yeonjun sighs as he rolls his eyes again at the boy's still nervous actions. Yeonjun decides it's best to just start walking, knowing Beomgyu will follow anyway.
Beomgyu follows behind Yeonjun. Keeping a bit of distance between them.
As they walk a voice is suddenly heard. "Hey, Yeonjun!" Someone shouts. And of course, it's Yeonjun friends.
Beomgyu freezes, instantly filled with dread. Knowing Yeonjuns friends, they probably spotted Yeonjun with Beomgyu and think he's just taking him somewhere to beat him up. And obviously, they'd want to join in.
Yeonjun turns at the sound of his name being called, he sees his friends walking over towards them. Great, that's just what he needs right now.
He gives the boy a small nod, silently telling him to run. Yeonjun can see the fear in the boy's eyes as he sees Yeonjuns friends approaching. He knows what his friends are like, so he knows exactly why Beomgyu is so scared.
Beomgyu makes a run for it.
"God damn it, he got away" Yeonjun mutters, pretending to be annoyed that he let the boy escape. He knows if his friends find out he let him go on purpose they'll think he's going soft.
Beomgyu lets out a sigh of relief when he reaches his classroom.
