"You should know your place, Pear. This is what happens to people like you." The big 17 years old boy said, standing over me, the scrawny one.
We were both students in Maple High, a school where bullying is overlooked. It is a school where the strong rule. So, seeing a big boy trampling on another student and his food was a normal thing. If he doesn't fight back, it only means he's fine with it. But even if I could fight back, I won't try to, because my oppressor was 'Frank Palick', ranked 32nd in West Maple High.
"It's Pierce, Frank. Not Pear..." I replied, with a shaky voice. My forearm was up to protect my face.
"Shut up. I'll call you whatever I want. And don't call me Frank. Call me Master, you piece of crap."
"I'm sorry, M... Master" I replied, not maintaining eye contact. "Next time, I'll let you finish eating and clean up after you before I eat."
"You're pissing me off, Pear. Now, I don't feel like eating anymore." Frank said and spat on the leftovers he had on a table on his right. "Now, you can eat it. That will make me feel better."
"Are... are... are you sure?" I asked. "I mean, it's... it's your food."
"It's yours now, Pear." Frank said with a smirk. "Eat. It"
"Okay. Thank you, m... master" I sighed and stood up. I lifted the tray and took a spoonful of spagetti. I lifted it to my mouth and looked over at Frank and his underlings giggling. I felt like killing them. But there was nothing I could do.
"Go on. Eat it."
I eventually put the spoon in my mouth.
A FEW MOMENTS LATER
"Blegh." I groaned as I threw up the last piece of food in my stomach. I flushed the toilet and stepped out. It wasn't always like this. I used to go to a better school where there was no bullying. But when my Mom moved to Crescent City, my sister, Bailey and I started attending Maple High.
My name is Pierce Jackson. The first child of my parents. I'm 17, and I'm one of the students under the governance of West Maple High.
Maple high is not like a normal high school. The teachers don't have any control over the students. And that is why the students separated the school ground into 5 places. North Maple High, West Maple High, South Maple High, East Maple High, and Central Maple High.
Each part of the school is governed by the Ranked, and of course, The Top Dog . The five Top dogs and their ranked fighters all battle for more territory. This is because, the more territory they have, the more income they get from taxes. The top dog in West Maple high, Victor, has 52 ranked fighters. And, currently, he's the weakest Top dog in Maple High, and only has control over 13% of the entire school.
I stopped thinking abruptly as I heard the restroom door open up. I looked up and saw Peter, my seat mate, walk in with a swollen face. Whenever I see him, I remember I have it better. At least, I don't get beat up much. I usually only eat disgusting food, or bark and dance like a chihuahua.
"Pear, what's up." Peter greeted and smiled forcefully. I don't get offended when he calls me Pear, though. Afterall, he has his own nickname
"I'm fine, Zebra."
"Isn't it funny how these people choose nicknames for us?" Peter joked and smiled, having a glint in his eyes this time. "They just pick random things."
We both laughed at what he said and he washed his face. Peter and I were total opposites in build. While I was frail-looking and a bit on the short side, Peter was a bit huge. Though, most of all the parts that were supposed to be muscles were actually just fat. If Peter wanted to be a ranked himself, all he had to do was get a little more muscle. Although, it was all a speculation, I could see Peter sitting by Victor's side.
