His cold green eyes pierced mine. Up close I could see the clear difference in our height, he towered over me. He was angry and I couldn't quiet tell why. Just seconds ago, I was taking materials out of my locker for class. I looked over his shoulder to see that the hall was clear, taking a deep breath, I answered "yes?"
He scoffed and raised a brow his voice laced with annoyance. "You have got to be kidding me. As if you don't know," he gestured to my shirt. I sighed, I remembered now, before I left this morning I decided to raid his closet. Aaron had never liked it when I took his clothes. He had always said that just because we looked the same didn't mean we had to dress that way. Us being twins, our mother had dressed us the same the whole time we were growing up. If it weren't for my dark hair constantly being put up in pigtails you would never have been able to tell us apart.
I laughed a little noticing his gaze soften slightly, "I can't help the fact that your clothes look just as good on me as they do on you." That was a lie, they looked better on me. I decided to omit that part.
He rolled his eyes, clearly annoyed with my answer. "Just stay out of my closet alright?" He shook his head and pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Aye, aye cap'n," I jokingly saluted him, ignoring his eye roll and side stepping him. We both knew this would not be the last time we had this conversation. I checked my phone for the time, and realized I was going to be late for class.
I walked into biology making it on time narrowly and took my seat next to Emmaline, who gave me a funny look. Usually, I am around thirty minutes early. I shook my head and ignored her curious ocean blue eyes. You could always tell exactly what she was thinking just by looking at her. I was surprised at the state she was in; her usually perfect golden yellow coils that now looked worn and frayed, were tied into a messy bun, fly aways strategically framing her face. Emmaline, who usually took great pride in her upkept look, showed up to class in pajamas you could tell she had previously slept in. I guess her talk with Trevor didn't go well -- at all. Personally, I never liked him. He was conventionally attractive, but she could do better than a two-bit cheater. Emmaline has a very bubbly personality and lights up every room, Trevor dampened that. She loved him, genuinely, and you could see that. But she looked depressed with him, no longer bubbly nor bright. There is no way he could affect her that negatively and call it love. So, I say good riddance.
I was lost in a train of thought when Mr. Quinn walked into the room. Mr. Quinn was a burley old man that doubled as a gym teacher. Because of the schools' funds, or lack thereof, he ended up teaching biology alongside gym. I felt Emmaline nudge me and I looked up at the board. I felt a surge of dread wash over me as I saw my name next to two others. I absolutely detest group work, mostly due to my horrid social skills.
"Alright, everyone has been placed into groups of three. For the rest of the semester these will be your group partners. Make sure you exchange information, or whatever it is you kids do to keep in contact these days," Mr. Quinn slumped into his desk chair looking uninterested as he started reading the names from the board.
I looked at Emmaline and whispered, "I didn't even know anyone by those names went to our school."
She raised a brow and looked at me as if I were stupid, "Jasper and Pierce?" I nodded urging her to continue, "Jasper and Pierce have been going here since grade school, you really don't remember them?" She deadpanned. I looked at her still confused. She shook her head and spoke as if it were obvious, "Jasper the tall dark-haired boy with the like, I dunno grey eyes? If you can call it that, and Pierce the slightly shorter dirty blonde? Both of them freakishly tan considering the fact we live in Washington? You don't remember them?" With each word she got a little louder unaware of the attention she was grabbing.
