A Message For All Women

Ladies and girls, whether you're near or far.
I want to remind you to love who you are.
I know it's not easy, especially now
When society's limits are holding us down.

Go look in the mirror. Look hard and look long.
The first things you notice are things you call "wrong".
You notice your tummy, your acne, your scars,
Insecurity traps you in chains behind bars.

But you see your reflection day after day,
You tear it apart and you throw it away.
You can't see yourself from an outsider's view,
From the eyes of the girls who wish they could be you.

You don't see your eyes and the depth that they hold,
Instead you see wrinkles and call yourself old.
You don't see the joy that beams from your grin,
But you call your teeth crooked and keep joy within.

We've been taught since day one that your value is based
On the color of skin and the size of your waist,
We strive for perfection, but one thing we've missed
Is realizing perfection just doesn't exist.

So don't let society tell you it's fine
To judge by your looks and ignore what's inside.
Beauty has no sizes, no color, no age.
So be your own model. The world is your stage.
