Her POV ::
The recent breakup with Jungkook was not something I wanted. The reason would be really invalid in a third person's perspective. He was extremely busy with his new solo projects for the past couple of months and all I asked for was a little time for us. But the discussion soon turned into a heated argument due to his recent hectic schedule. Out of frustration, I asked him to break up with me and in the flow, he agreed.
I know it was something we both did not mean. But here I was, packing my stuff to shift to a new place. My company offered me a new place to stay as a benefit of my promotion. This was pretty close to where I and Jimin used to live together. I needed a break from whatever was happening with us and also wanted to give him some space to think clearly. He too, let me go.
I packed everything I needed and drove to the new apartment. The rest of my belongings would be shifted by the company's people. The drive was barely 20 minutes. I entered the boundary of the apartment and parked the car. Registering myself at the security, I move towards the lift. My floor was apparently the 32nd floor. I enter the lift with my luggage and stand in the silence to reach my floor. In those few minutes, the only thought that occupied my mind was Jungkook. I hoped that things would be back to normal soon.
Nevertheless, I reached my floor. I rummaged through my bag to find the keys. Number 103, was boldly etched on the key— great. I stand in front of the door and some bypassers give me a weird look. Shrugging it off, I use the keys to enter. An eerie air hits me, the hair on the back of my neck suddenly rising. Letting the heaviness wash away, I enter my apartment. Oh! They have already cleaned the place.
The house was huge, decorated with dark and minimalist furnishings. No wonder the rent is sky- touching. But who am I to worry about it? My position in my job is high enough to make the company pay for all my basic expenses. I climb upstairs and the first and I notice is the huge glass window in the bedroom. This is when I realized that it was already dusk. I unpack my luggage and keep them where they belong. Going downstairs, I can't help but admire the clean look of the kitchen. I search around to find something to eat and decide to make some mac & cheese.
Despite the fight with Jungkook, I already had plans to move out, but not without him. I felt so alone here in this huge house. I know if it had been some other day, I would have had his sweet company. We would have talked and laughed while I cooked. We would have kissed each other with such adoration.
But he wasn't there. I didn't realize I was crying until a few drops of tear rolled down my cheek. The noodles were ready. I wiped off my tears and proceeded to have my so-called dinner. I cleaned the dishes and went upstairs to my bedroom. Laying on the bed, I could only stare at the darkish ceiling and dream of us together with my eyes open.
I had no sense of time but I'm sure I heard a knock. Seems like I was asleep. I open my eyes and hear the knock again, although unable to figure out where exactly it was coming from. It took me a moment to know it was from the door of the bedroom. To say that I was in utter confusion would be an understatement. I checked the time and it was far past midnight— 2:37, the screen of the phone showed. Who and why would knock at someone's door at this moment? And how did they get in?
Part of me thought I was dreaming, but part of me knew it was real. Part of me wanted to call some help for myself, but part of me wondered if it was someone who needed help. All thoughts aside, whoever was continuously knocking on my door, was luring me to open the door. And guess what, they succeeded.
I decided to just open the door and to my surprise it was Jungkook. Now I started believing it was actually a dream.
"What are you doing here at this time?"
"I wanted to see you. I miss you so much."
It seemed so real. But not when he hugged me. He just did not seem like him. His breathing was fast but his heartbeat was so slow. His face was still as real. I ignored the uneasy feeling in hopes of mending our relationship. I hugged him back and whispered, "I love you."
Maybe the fatigue and sleepiness from the constant mental conflicts made me do these. I did not let him go, instead we went to bed together. I snuggled into his chest and heard his heartbeat again. Why is it still so slow?
Anyways, I was happy to be with him. If it was some other time, I would have fought and argued, but something didn't let me. I have no idea when I had drifted off to sleep but I woke up again. This time because of Jungkook. We were cuddling together and he was the big spoon. But his grip around me was tightening.
I slightly opened my eyes and looked down at my waist. To my horror, the hand around my waist was nowhere close to being human. It was black and dying. The hand was leaving a black residue on my night suit. The sharp nails of whatever the fuck that was, was digging into my skin through the clothes. I am dreaming. I have to be dreaming. It's just a bad dream. It was gripping me as if I would run away. My breathing intensifies, I can't help but let out a sob. I closed my eyes immediately. At this moment, my mind was conscious but my body was not. It was as if someone was taking over me.
That's when I heard the voice whisper into my ears, "Won't you look at me my love? I'm right here. Look at me and love me."
