"What did you do?" Inha demanded, his voice trembling as tears welled up in his eyes. Ellie began to cry, her emotions overwhelming her. Jae-i looked confused and frightened.
"Kang Inhan is my brother," Inha revealed, making Jae-i's eyes widen in shock.
"The Kang Inhan you said you killed is my brother," he repeated, causing Ellie to release a sob. Jae-i turned to Ellie, her face pale with realization.
"What did you do to him?" Ellie asked desperately. "What did you do to my best friend?" she cried, her tears flowing freely.
Inha looked at Jae-i with a mixture of sorrow and anger. "Why did you two trick me?" Jae-i demanded, her voice shaking with emotion.
"We wanted to know what happened to my brother," Inha explained. "What exactly happened to Inhan? Why did you keep silent? And how did the school cover it up so quickly?"
Jae-i was at a loss for words. Inha continued, "I don't believe my brother died in a hit-and-run. There was another reason. Who bullied him? Why was he bullied? He stayed by your side and made you smile. Why did you let this happen?"
Jae-i looked away, guilt and shame written all over her face. She tried to walk away, but Inha grabbed her arm to stop her.
Ellie, sensing the tension escalating, tried to intervene. Her eyes widened in shock as she saw Rian storming towards Inha. He pushed Inha away and grabbed him by the collar. "Why did you touch her? I told you to stay away from her. So, you're Kang Inhan's brother," he said, gripping Inha's collar tightly.
Ellie tried to pull Rian away from Inha, but he glared at her and pushed her, causing her to stumble. She glared back at Inha, desperate for him to do something. "Now the pieces are falling into place. I see why you've been messing with me and why you approached Jae-i," Rian said angrily.
Ellie tried again to pull them apart, but Rian grabbed her arm tightly, causing her to wince in pain. "And you, who are you? Do both of you want revenge or something?" he yelled in her face.
Inha grabbed Rian's collar in return. "Don't touch her. Why would you do something worthy of revenge, Kim Rian?" he retorted.
Rian glared at him, tightening his grip on Ellie's arm, making her whimper. "Do you both want to die like your brother?" Rian threatened, pushing Ellie away. She almost fell into the pool, looking back at the two boys as their argument escalated.
"What did you say?" Inha shouted, punching Rian in the face. Ellie screamed in fear as the two boys started fighting each other. She noticed Jae-i having a panic attack and quickly went to her, trying to calm her down, but Rian pushed her away and hugged Jae-i instead.
"Did I surprise you? I'm sorry," he said, hugging Jae-i tightly. Ellie looked away, feeling a pang in her heart as she watched the two ex-lovers. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she quickly grabbed her bag.
"Inha, let's go," she said with a broken voice, tears running down her face. She grabbed Inha's arm and started to pull him away from the chaotic scene.
Inha resisted at first, wanting to stay and confront Rian, but the sight of Ellie's tears and the desperation in her voice made him relent. Together, they walked away, leaving Rian and Jae-i behind.
As they reached the end of the driveway, Ellie finally broke down, sobbing uncontrollably. Inha pulled her into a comforting embrace, feeling the weight of their shared grief and frustration.
