While sipping her drink, Jae-i couldn't shake the feeling of Rian's gaze on her. She avoided meeting his eyes, choosing instead to focus on her surroundings. Woojin sighed heavily beside her.
"I haven't even touched my food, but my appetite is already gone," he muttered, staring out at the scenery.
"Could it be the vibes?" Hera chimed in, nodding in agreement. "Yeah, I think it's contagious because I feel the same way." She chuckled, her gaze fixed on Rian, who was intently watching Jae-i.
"It's been forever since we hung out like this. Can't you two get along for just one day?" Woojin pleaded, looking at the two who had been silent the entire time.
"I'm heading out," Jae-i declared, grabbing her bag and making a move to leave, only to be stopped by Rian.
"Stay. You said you wanted to be friends. There's no reason to avoid me if you meant it," he insisted, causing Jae-i to pause.
"Don't you remember telling me you would do anything it takes to get back together? Isn't that reason enough?" she retorted, making everyone fall silent.
Jae-i yanked her hand away and started walking off. Rian sighed deeply as Hera shoved Woojin aside to sit beside him. Woojin, in turn, decided to follow Jae-i.
"So, my plan... have you thought about it?" Hera asked, leaning in closer to Rian.
"Forget the plan, Hera. It would never work," he replied, grabbing his phone. "Jae-i would see through a fake relationship right away."
"With the right girl, she wouldn't," Hera argued, making him look at her skeptically.
"Why? Why would you be the perfect choice for that?" he asked.
"It has to be someone Jae-i would believe, but also a woman who would back off if Jae-i started to feel jealous," Hera explained, looking back at Rian. "Trust me, I'm your only option."
Rian smiled, albeit reluctantly. "Why are you so confident about it? Don't you think you're the only one?"
Hera laughed heartily. "Come on, Rian. The opportunity is right in front of you," she said, just as Rian received a notification from their group chat.
It was filled with pictures of their recent adventures. Among them, a candid shot of Ellie petting a cat caught his attention.
