She directs everyone inside where she introduces what she calls the "Unforeseen Simulation Joint" or USJ for short. She begins the lesson by explaining her quirk and how its power can be used to both save and take lives, and that today will be about learning how to use our quirks to save people even if they could be dangerous.
Aizawa begins to speak but is interrupted when the lights go out, and the atmosphere becomes heavy. Somehow, what look to be villains appear in the middle of the USJ, a lot of them too. One of the villains catches your eye, you swear you've seen him before but can't put a finger on it.
Then it hits you and a familiar sense of dread quickly overwhelms you.
______________
It was about a week ago during work, which started out like most days, you remember greeting Mr Toraki as you grabbed your apron and began sweeping the shop. He was rambling on and on from behind the counter about god knows what as he often did, he always found a reason to be mad at something.
Once the evening rolled around, Mr Toraki made his way to his room as he usually did, leaving you to deal with the customers by yourself. It was quiet for the most part, as it usually is that time of night, with not many customers at all.
At some point you turned on the old radio that sat on the counter, curious as to what was on the news. The radio crackled to life as you fiddled with the dial until you found the right station. "Police are currently investigating what appears to be another attack by the infamous hero killer Stain." The radio host reports. For months Stain had been terrorising the hero community, forcing heroes to retire from their injuries or outright killing them.
According to the survivors, Stain hated what heroes had become. Declaring that the occupation was filled with self righteous fakes who were only interested in fame and fortune. It was a sentiment you agreed with, how many of these so called "heroes" would be willing to put down their own lives to save normal everyday citizens? How many would continue being a hero if they weren't paid for their services? Or if their deeds went unnoticed? Too many.
Just because someone was a hero didn't mean they had earned your respect. A hero is defined by their character and actions, not their title. And in your experience, many lacked that. Though you must admit, killing and mutilating people isn't how you'd go about it.
You continued to listen to the broadcast, watching from behind the counter as a customer entered the store. He was dressed in all black and had light blue hair which covered parts of his face, the skin of which was pale and dry, almost like he was scratching at it. You watched on as he scanned the shelves thinking he was just a normal customer.
"Could you turn the radio up?" The man suddenly requested, not looking away from the item he was inspecting. You obliged with the man's request and turned the radio up. "Scary isn't it? That the most revered people in our society are under attack." He asked, his tone sounded creepy and made you uncomfortable.
An odd chill ran down your spine, but not wanting to be rude you answered the man's question. "Sure I guess, I mean I don't condone killing but at least he has his reasons, unlike most of the psychos in this city." The man chuckled eerily, approaching the counter, placing down a single apple. "That'll be 90¥." You add.
His dry, chapped lips contorted into a small, ghastly smile that put you off further. "Good answer, most people now days are foolish, they worship them." He pulled out his wallet and placed the 90¥ on the counter then went to leave the store but before he did so he looked back at you with a wide, bone chilling grin. "We'll be keeping an eye on you, Y/N L/N."
