They met, and in that moment, they felt the weight of their shared pain, the lingering sorrow that echoed through their souls. Would they realize each other’s importance in their lives? The memories flashing in their minds were remnants of a cherished past, moments they had once adored but had now been buried under layers of distrust.
Court Day
The day in court was not the culmination of their journey but rather a crucial step—the submission of essential papers for the case.
“So, Miss Aanya Singhania, I trust you’re diligently working on the case?” Shanaya inquired, her tone laced with skepticism.
“Miss Shanaya Raisinghani, I think you already know that victory is ours,” Aanya replied confidently.
“Is the word ‘thank you’ unfamiliar to you, then? Or perhaps ‘sorry’?” Aanya continued, a playful challenge in her voice.
Shanaya scoffed, her defenses rising. “Thank you? Thank you for what, Miss Aanya? I’m paying you for this case.”
“And yet,” Aanya countered, “you know I’m putting in extra effort.”
Shanaya cleared her throat, a hint of irritation creeping in. “Thank you, Miss Aanya,” she said, her voice cold but tinged with something softer.
“Oh my goddess! Did I hear that right?” Aanya exclaimed, her surprise genuine.
For just a fleeting moment, a small smile broke through Shanaya’s icy demeanor before she quickly masked it. “Did you just smile? Shanaya Raisinghani knows how to smile!” Aanya teased.
“Enough! I’m leaving. I’ll see you on the final day,” Shanaya shot back, turning to exit.
“Okay!” Aanya called after her, a bemused smile lingering on her lips.
How strange it was—they had only met days ago, yet a connection had sparked between them. The girl who had always despised the concept of friendship, who had built walls around her heart, found an inexplicable bond with Aanya. Talking to her felt different, almost soothing.
Could she trust Aanya? Trust had been shattered in her past, leaving deep scars. The fear of betrayal loomed large, a constant reminder of why she had vowed to guard her heart fiercely.
But perhaps this time could be different.
