OS-2 : Anirudh ~ Bondita

Comincia dall'inizio

The battlefield unfolded like a canvas of courage: lush green fields, villages, and the majestic Brahmaputra River. Pakistani forces had entrenched themselves in the city's central buildings, but the determination of the freedom fighters was unshakeable. As artillery fire shook the earth, Anirudh led his platoon with unwavering resolve, Bondita fighting bravely by his side. The Pakistani side suffered heavy casualities forcing them back from position if advantage.

"Pakistanis are retreating!" Probir shouted, his voice echoing across the battlefield.

"Advance!" Anirudh ordered, his eyes burning with conviction.

Suddenly, a bullet pierced the air, striking Anirudh with deadly precision. He fell, clutching his chest, his eyes locked onto Bondita's. Time stopped for Bondita as she saw him lying on the ground, his hand above his chest. Bondita rushed to him, tears streaming down her face like rain. She along with another soldier dragged him behind a wall, saving him from further assault.

"No! Don't leave me!" she begged, cradling his head. His lips gave a faint smile as he saw her concerned for him. She checked onto his shirt, revealing a bleeding wound that seemed to tear her own heart apart. Bondita wailed, her voice shattering the battlefield's chaos, the next moment a feeling of anger overtook her. She aimed her rifle at Anirudh's assualter, hiding behind the wall. With anger rushing in her veins she fired 3 rounds at the enemy soldier, eliminating him forever.

"Bondita..." Anirudh's faint voice drew her attention. She kept her rifle aside, cradling him in her lap.
She tore her scarf, pressing it to the wound with trembling hands.

"Stay with me, Sainik Babu! Please!"

Anirudh's gaze fluttered, his eyes filled with a deep longing, his hands slowly moved up to caress her cheeks, "Bondita...I..."

"Nothing will happen, you'll be alright " Bondita assured as she placed his back against the wall. Her hands cradled his face in a bid to soothe him.

"You cannot leave me, I cannot loose you. God has snatched everything from me, you are everything I have. Aami tomake Bhalobashi Sainik Babu" (I love you Sainik Babu) She confessed, her voice trembling like a leaf. As those words hit his ears Anirudh's eyes locked onto hers, his face etched with adoration. He placed her hand above his heart, the wound slowly sucking life out of him. But he wished to confess before anything happens to him, gathering all the strength he murmured "I love you too, Bondita...so much!" The next moment he collapsed in her arms, shaking her entire world. Did she loose him? No! No way, the lord almighty cannot be so cruel to her. She cannot loose him, she sat numb holding him close to her heart.

Soon, medical assisstance reached the spot. "Get him to safety!" a medic shouted, urgency etched on his face. Bondita helped lift Anirudh onto a stretcher, her hands refusing to let go.

"Will he be okay?" Bondita begged, her eyes pleading. The medic nodded reassuringly.

"We'll try to save him."

As they rushed Anirudh to the medical camp, Bondita held his hand, her heart beating in sync with his.

"I'll be here, Anirudh. Always." She said looking at his unconcious face. On one hand the medical team worked tirelessly, saving Anirudh's life with precision and care, while on the other hand his battalion secured a victory at Mymensingh. Further, the Indian army penetrated deep into Bangladesh, surrounding Dhaka from three sides. It was on 16th Decemeber that the Pakistani Army surrendered, liberating Bangladesh from the long driven atrocities.

Dhaka erupted in jubilation, its streets transformed into a kaleidoscope of color and sound. Freedom's sweet taste intoxicating the air, Bangladeshis danced, sang, and wept, embracing their hard-won independence. Flags of Bangladesh waved high, confetti and balloons filling the sky. Joyful shouts and laughter echoed through the streets, as strangers hugged and congratulated each other. In the hospital cabin, Bondita sat beside Anirudh, who lay wounded but recovering. Through the window, they watched the celebrations unfold.

On the radio, the announcement crackled: "Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the Father of the Nation, has been released from Pakistani custody!"

The hospital room erupted in cheers. Bondita's eyes sparkled, tears of happiness welling up.

"Freedom," she whispered, her voice trembling. Anirudh's hand found hers, his fingers intertwining. Sheikh Mujib's voice, broadcast from the radio, echoed through the streets:

"Dear brothers and sisters...today, we achieved our independence...our struggle has paid off."

The crowd roared, chanting "Joy Bangla!" (Victory to Bangladesh!). Processions wound through the city, carrying banners and portraits of Sheikh Mujib. Bondita and Anirudh shared a tender moment, their love shining brighter than any firework.

Probir entered, a wide grin on his face as he asked "Kemon achen amader Captain saheb?" (How's our Captain?)

Anirudh sat up saying "I am fine, all thanks to Bondita" His comment made her blush, Probir who had been a witness of their growing bond couldn't hold back his smile. From witnessing her broken and violeted to now watching her smile, the journey was indeed a roller coaster ride. A tear formed in the corner of his eyes as he looked at the duo.

With utmost sincerity he held Anirudh's hand, "Captain, I am indebted to you. You not only helped us in our struggle but also saved my little sister. I have a request Captain..." Anirudh's eyes assured him to go ahead.

Probit gently placed Bondita's hand on Anirudh's saying "Please take her along! She loves you alot and I know even you do. You're her everything."

Bondita was startled at her brother's words, she was about to remove her palm but Anirudh's grip tightened around her hand. Her eyes searched for answer, when he smiled saying "Ei juddho nahoi joi korlam, kintu jibon juddho je ekhono baki, sekhaneo je tomakei pase chai ami Bondita. Will you marry me?" (This war may be over, but the battle of life still remains, and in that, I want you by my side, Bondita. Will you marry me?)

Bondita couldn't help but nod in a yes, tieing eachother in a lifetime bond of love and commitment.
