"You're not alone, Bondita. Thousands suffer with you. Your story is their story. Your pain is their pain." He tried to lift her morale my making her understand the broader picture. He guided her to a nearby bench, sitting beside her.

"Look around. See the refugees, the orphaned children, the widowed mothers. The Mukhti Bahini, they too have lost a lot but not their fighting spirit. They have looked above their personal losses and are striving hard to fight for the upcoming generations."

"I'm weak. I can't..." Bondita looked downward. Anirudh's eyes locked onto hers.

"You're strong, Bondita. You survived the unthinkable. Now, use that strength to fight back."

His words ignited a spark within her, "Fight back? How?"

Anirudh's voice filled with conviction.

"Join the Mukhti Bahini, fight for your people. Make your family's sacrifice count."

Bondita's eyes widened, "But how can I?"

"Why not? If they can you too can." Anirudh smiled answering her question with his. Bondita's face set in determination understanding his points slowly.

"You're right....palale cholbena lodte hobe" (You are right.....there's no point running away, I need to fight) Anirudh's grip on her hand tightened his eyes meeting hers. Bondita's eyes shone with newfound purpose. As they stood, Bondita's gaze never left Anirudh's face. He had saved her, not just from death, but from despair.

Inspired by Anirudh, Bondita joined the Mukti Bahini, determined to fight for her country's freedom. Anirudh, now her instructor, pushed her and the other recruits to their limits. As days passed, Bondita and Anirudh grew closer, their mutual respect and trust deepening. In the barracks, Bondita shared stories of her family and lost home, Anirudh listening intently.
In quiet moments, he would find her lost in thought, her eyes reflecting the pain of her past. He'd approach her with gentle understanding, offering words of encouragement. With each passing day, their bond grew. Shared laughter, whispered words, and knowing glances wove a tapestry of trust. During training, Anirudh guided Bondita through obstacle courses and combat drills. He pushed Bondita to her limits, but his eyes betrayed concern. He'd help her up when she stumbled, his touch warm.

In the evenings, they'd sit together, watching stars twinkle to life. Their growing closeness didn't go unnoticed by others. But they themselves were in denial. Anirudh found himself drawn to Bondita's courage and resilience. His heart fluttering at her glance, his lips curving at her words. But duty came first, he was in the middle of an ongoing conflict and under no circumstances he can let emotions overpower him. Moreover, he also feared her reaction, what if she felt betrayed? It would be better to conceal the emotions as of now.

Her situation was no different, she felt an inexplicable connection to the Indian captain who had saved her. She would find her cheeking heating up at his glance. His mere touch ignited butterflies in her stomach. But her mind reminded her of the lingering danger, an inevitable war. Moreover for her ensuring justice and independence were far more important than any other feeling.

Neither dared voice their feelings. Their unspoken bond strengthened. In stolen glances, they conveyed what words couldn't. A connection forged in shared purpose.

Finally on December 3, war erupts, as decided the Indian army lauches offensive on the eastern front. Captain Anirudh Roychowdhury's 5/1 Gorkha Rifles battalion is tasked with capturing Mymensingh. The golden sunrise cast a serene glow over Mymensingh, but the air was heavy with anticipation. The Indian Army's 5/1 Gorkha Rifles, alongside Mukti Bahini fighters, prepared to liberate the city from Pakistani forces.
