A faint smile broke on Y/n's lips. No... she wasn't leaving home.
She was taking it with her.
Still, no matter how much she had encouraged herself the night before-no matter the promises, the vows, the rooftop affirmations-this first step felt heavy. Like it might crush her.
But it wouldn't. She wouldn't let it.
Not with them beside her.
She inhaled, grounded herself, and-
"BOO!"
Y/n screamed.
Okay, not a full scream. More like a choked yelp mixed with a dying laugh.
She jerked forward as a floating rock hovered above her head, held in mid-air casually as if defying gravity, a very familiar hand was behind it. That hand was attached to a smirking face. That smirking face belonged to the one and only Sana.
Yn turned with all the force of someone preparing to slap a ghost.
The chills that had just sprinted down her spine gathered at her tailbone like a riot. Her soul? Gone. Ascended. Out of service until further notice.
"Goddammit, Sana," Y/n breathed, clutching her chest. "I nearly peed."
Sana snickered like a guilty cartoon villain. "That's the point. Gotta keep you humble before you go all divine and glowy."
She dropped the rock harmlessly to the side and pulled Y/n into a hug before she could complain further. Tight. Familiar.
"I'm proud of you," Sana whispered, suddenly soft. "And you're gonna do amazing things. But if you die out there-" she pulled back just enough to look her in the eye, "-I'm gonna resurrect you and kill you myself."
Y/n blinked. "That... feels fair."
They laughed quietly, their foreheads touching for a second before separating again.
The rock Sana had been holding gave one last little shake and floated up beside them.
"Seriously?" Y/n asked.
"Last prank. Swear," Sana said.
"Sana, Sana, SAAAAANAAAAA!"

Y/n barely survived Sana's second attack that morning-still emotionally wounded and, frankly, twitching. Her excuse?
> "I just wanted to see if your latent powers would suddenly awaken and protect you! I read it in a book!"
A book. She almost lost her soul to a floating rock because Sana was on some mythical training arc pulled straight from a fantasy fanfic. And now here she was, blinking nonstop in stunned silence while trying not to puke her breakfast onto the carriage floor.
This damned thing-this wooden, rattling, medieval torture device on wheels-was rolling like it was racing in a dream.
"faster please," she muttered to herself, face pale, spine stiff. "ugh, my ass-my royal seat-can't take it anymore."
Hours.
Hours of jolting, cramping, and unrelenting regret.
To make matters worse, she was not traveling with her dream team.
No Jihyo. No Mina. Definitely no Dahyun. That trio would've made this carriage ride a fluffy spa retreat compared to this.
Instead?
Tzuyu. Her brother. And Mina's brother.
Also known as: Frosty, Frostier, and Frostiest.
Not only were they nobility and as expressive as walls, they all could manipulate ice-so death-by-glare (or literal glacier) was always on the table.
