The first time they had eye contact, she and her band had just come off stage. Tré had been right, the performance had blown him away. Their song 'Just A Girl' had rocked the entire place and Billie couldn't help but think how appropriate the song was. Considering the way he'd been feeling.

In the heaving mass of celebrities, media and the handful of lucky fans who had managed to get a golden ticket to the freak show that was the '1997 MTV Music Awards' he saw her standing with some guy and Billie could see the bored expression play over her face. Then her eyes moved slowly around the room and shifted in his direction, she seemed to hesitate before her gaze all but riveted on him. Their eyes locked and Billie, not even if his life depended on it, could turn away. Not even blink. Was this what it was like for every guy that met her? Then she sucker-punched him. She smiled. Slow and sexy, and it had electric currents shooting through his body, tingling at his nerve ends and setting his body on fire.

Fuck.

Enough said.

He had never been as bodily aware of a girl his whole life.

Girl.

Right.

Because he had to keep reminding himself that was what she was. But damn it was hard to, looking the way she did. He couldn't remember being this turned on. He lifted his beer to his lips and then the most incredible thing happened. She opened her mouth to say something and Billie presumed it was going to be at the guy she was with, but her eyes were still on him.

'Oh my god,' she mouthed right at him, and then rolled her eyes. 'Help me.'

Seconds later he was on his way over to do just that.

Riley had been watching him. She had seen him right away. She knew who he was. After all, three years previous pictures of his band had adorned her bedroom walls and 'Dookie' was one of her all-time favorite albums. That record, on a personal level, meant a lot to her.

Billie Joe Armstrong was the epitome of a punk rock God, a legend. There wasn't and never would be another band like Green Day. With their head-splitting guitar riffs, catchy choruses and Billie's trademark sneer and unique vocals, they were exactly what the music business had needed back in 1994 when they had finally - after almost seven years of hard work - broke through the market with their single 'Basket Case' and Riley had identified with the angst-ridden, anarchy that was the life and soul of Green Day. Billie was an incredible front man, he had the power to work a crowd like nobody else - who could forget the infamous Woodstock '94 performance - and his at times insane stage antics had influenced her own decision to make music.

She had been watching him and yes, she had seen him watching her, too. Groupies hung around him and the other band members, Mike Dirnt and Tré Cool - whose name she thought really did fit. She had met the zany Green Day drummer at a recent Ballroom Blitz and had been completely humbled when he'd told her how much he had enjoyed her set.

She had seen Billie looking at her when she'd been talking, or at least the wannabe rock groupie who swore he was twenty but Riley figured was more thirty had been talking, she had been almost glad he was boring her into submission. Seeing Billie Joe Armstrong watching her across a crowded room was the kind of fantasy every teenage girl dreamed about, but never in a million years thought would ever happen. The guy was HOT and right now, he was checking her out. She could hardly breathe. Her eyes slid over what he wore, black pants complete with chains and a T-shirt with a slogan that read Minority - So who gives a fuck? Which made her grin right away. Her eyes moved to the many tattoos that adorned his arms. He had great forearms. Probably from the many years of playing guitar. His jet-black hair was scrunched and spiked, and those super-sexy green eyes that were looking right at her were more than enough for any girl to handle in one sitting.
