Friends, by Chase Atlantic started playing from the restaurant, and she looked down at her skirt, running her hands over it to take the wrinkles out.
"Yes. It was a very fun night. I'm glad I came." she honestly answered, looking back at him "I'm just tired."
He nodded, looking away, and for a minute they just listened to the rain joining in with the music.
Heart on your sleeve like you've never been loved
Running in circles, now look what you've done
Give you my word as you take it and run
Wish you'd let me stay, I'm ready now
"You know.. what mom said is true."
She looked back at him.
"About you.. changing. I noticed it the second I saw you." he murmured, staring into her eyes.
She huffed lightly, before looking down "It's just a professional change. I had to get a new stylist, and replace most of my team because of the new publicity... I adjusted to the new look- it was difficult in the beginning.. now it comes to me easy. Nothing more than that."
Just give some time and space to realize that you
Were busy lying sleeping 'round with other guys
"It's not only what you wear." he narrowed his eyes "You're a lot calmer, a lot more confident. It radiates from your eyes. I like it Laura, I do."
And what the hell were we?
Tell me we weren't just friends
This doesn't make much sense, no
Those exact eyes, now felt heavy, as she stared back at him "...really?"
He didn't reply, nor did he move- his own tired eyes completely lost in hers.
Neither of them could move- they completely tuned out the world as they stood there, and the rain got heavier and heavier.
It wasn't calming down, and she could feel it coming up her bare legs. For some reason, she did nothing about it.
Well.. up until they heard a crash.
Both of them jumped, looking back into the window of the restaurant, to notice it was simply a waiter dropping an empty plate.
Her hand flew to her chest, and as he looked back at her- her mouth dropped open slightly.
"I.. need to go."
But I'm not hurt, I'm tense
'Cause I'll be fine without you babe
There was no time for him to say a thing, as she started speed walking into the rain.
His eyes widen, as he followed after her quickly "What? Just give me a minute I need to- Laura!"
Her name loud and clear rung in her ears, making her turn to look at him.
He stared at her, noticing her shirt getting wetter, sticking to her body.
"What?" she questioned, now a bit pissed "Just let me go."
"You just.." he seemed at a lost for words, running his hands through his wet hair.
What could he say? Why couldn't he let her go? Nothing was wrong. Nothing was said. No actions were taken.
There was no reason for him to keep following after her.
So why did he keep fucking doing it?
"You seemed a bit upset and I just.. I get worried." were the words he settles on.
She'd been laughing and smiling before she left, so how the hell could he tell? Was it so damn obvious? She hoped not.
"Did you trick me into meeting your new girlfriend without warning me?" she finally questioned, chest going up and down as she breathed heavier.
Maybe it wasn't much of a big deal at all, but considering their history with this exact thing.. he knew he had to be careful, and.. he wasn't.
They flirted all night, and she wondered if inviting her was some type of power play. Why? That, she had no answer to.
Her shirt was starting to get transparent, and he could see her figure quite damn well now. He was certain, she could feel it too.
"What?" he questioned "She's not.. fuck, even if I did, why would that make you upset?"
Her eyes darkened, as she huffed "Right."
With that, she turned around to walk away.
He grabbed onto her wrist, pulling her to him, her other hand slamming against his chest.
She stared up at him, as rain blurred her vision. Disoriented, sober, and absolutely drained..
she pushed him away.

Bruh, I did not expect this to end like that 😭
The scene writers itself, I'm literally doing nothing and just letting it flow.. I had a completely different plan for this.. but I guess not?
It's so weird how that happens sometimes. Exactly how weird their relationship is right now.
How fucking frustrating when you both know what's wrong, but neither dare say it.. because nothing's supposed to be wrong, isn't it?
Well, I was excited about this chapter, so I ended up writing the entirety of it in one day. I'm not kidding, I've made no progress all week because of my job, so I felt like I had to get into it today.
I didn't expect to post it, that's for sure- but here we are. I'm insane like that.
Anyway, if you enjoyed it leave me a star and comment your exact feelings about this chapter 😂 I'm curious to know if you're as confused as they are or if you can tell where the problem lies.
Thank you for your patience, and I hope you have more of it <3
Roll the credits!
