in a land sparse and bare
where hills and daffodils hold our stare
and where chimes of breeze and meadows tingle
and where the stars touch the hearts of people
there was a lad
who couldn't see
to be blind was his destiny
and that day when he heard the most lovely voice in the whole wide world?
he cursed the day he was born,
for he couldn't see her
eons passed, days bumped the days forward
slowly
"with each new day, with each new voice, with each new sky,
aren't you reminded of your misery? "
asked his peer with voice raspy
to which he replied,
"i can see your concern,
the same way i can see
how fear knocks into the crevices where love ought to be
I can see the warmth in the din of angry firecrackers
I can see what many might not take time to see
and perhaps which is why, oh brother, go to sleep,
for i see tis is past midnight,
tis time to see to your yawns and be lulled by nightjars' meep!"
