when anna mentioned her parents were buying her a new car because of her psat scores, and that she knew tori wanted a car, she was quick to offer to sell it to her. for a pretty low price since it was pretty old and had been bought second hand because she fell in love with it. however, she loved the newer and flashier car her parents offered her more.

and because her parents were the rich that didn't really care about things like that, they let anna do what she wanted with it. and so, anna decided the old car would go to tori so she could stop taking the bus to school all the time.

"mom," tori spoke, hands behind her back as she stared at her with the best puppy dog eyes she could.

"what do you want?"

she rushed to sit next to her, "so you know how i've worked at luke's and the bookshop and saved a ton of money because i wanted to use it for something big. well, anna is selling her car and for cheap because she doesn't need the money and her parents are giving her a new car for her psat scores. and i wanted to know if i have your permission to buy it."

"her psat scores? that was weeks ago," lorelai spoke.

"they've been away on business. now's the longest they've been back to actually give her a gift," tori explained.

lorelai thought, "if it's a good car then yes. you can. i trust anna to not sell you a dud."

tori threw her arms around her mom, "thank you. thank you. thank you!"

with that tori left to go to the book sale in the town square, happier than before.

she'd gone before rory and dean, managing to make her way around and barely bumping into them. she'd acquired a box mid-way through her search, headphones in to signal she wanted to be left alone.

she lugged the overflowing box to gypsy, placing it on the table and pulling her headphones down. she picked up the few that had slipped out of the box.

"find everything you wanted?"

tori smiled, "yeah, it's a good one this year."

"you say that every year."

"and every year i buy half the stock."

---

tori arrived back home to lorelai and jess eating chinese food. she dumped the bags down with a loud thump.

"a successful trip?" lorelai called.

tori grabbed the books she'd gotten for jess, "yeah. very." she smiled at the pair. "there was an astrology section that i basically cleared out. and i think there's a few that rory might be pissed i got." she placed the four books in front of jess. "here."

lorelai watched the pair closely.

"what-"

"i saw them and thought you might like them. you said surprise you. surprise!"
