I didn't go to school the following day. I already guessed William already asked out Mona. Abruptly, a thought popped up in my head, "Wait, Mona knows that I like William, so she'll obviously decline him, right?" Once the clock struck 3 pm, my stomach growled. I was starving. I ordered chicken wings from KFC because I was too lazy to cook for myself.
When I started eating, I got a phone call from Mona. I expected a call from her saying that she would reject William. As I picked up the phone, I heard a comical cough followed by a selfless scream.
"Maya! Why haven't you come to school today?"
"So sorry, but I was extremely exhausted," I lied.
"Oh, well, I hope you feel better soon," Mona replied.
"Thank yo-,"
"Oh, I have to go, bye!" Mona exclaimed as she interrupted me.
Mona instantly hung up so fast that I couldn't say bye back. I didn't think William asked Mona yet because if he did Mona would tell me, right? The thoughts of it gave my head pain. While I continued eating my KFC, I scrolled a bit on Instagram using my spam account hoping it would get my mind off things.
I received a notification. William uploaded a new photo. As I clicked on it, I immediately regretted it. A photo of Mona kissing William on the cheek with the caption "My new girlfriend❤❤." I double-tapped the photo and commented "Congrats!" I was not hungry anymore.
