New Task

"[Redacted] repo t ner l [re ted] off"

The voice on the speaker is muffled from the concentration. He drops a few drops of acid to see how his experiment will react, an artificial life form, something of a blob, it's hungry and screeching from the acid.

"Max, hey Max"

A hand rests on his shoulder, startling him back to the lab room, a colleague, Jess, calls his name. Max turns to look at him.

"Hey, what's up? Is something the matter?"

Puzzled he puts down his forceps and removed his goggles.

"Yeah, [Redacted] in the head office has been trying to get a hold of you, calling on the speaker and everything."

"CRAP! Tell me your kidding!"

He gets up puting his lab coat on quickly, and speed walks, Jess follows behind, they get to the office. Max catches his breath, fixes his coat and ID. He swiftly walks in calm and collected.

"Good Afternoon sir."

Max speaks still catching his breath. [Redacted], the head of [redacted] space station. He waits for Max to catch his breath.

"I'm glad you can make it. We need you for a very important task. We have found a new life."

He stairs in shock and fumbles his words trying to speak.

"Other life!? How is that possible?"

"We're not to sure, most like me adaptions from single cell to another life form. We were only able to find one, you need to run tests on her try to lean what you can. Her given name is 0738 and that's what you shall call this project."

"Yes sir. I understand sir."

"Great. You will start immediately, you will be escorted to her chamber."

Max leaves the room with a guard, he's lead to the holding room. Metallic banging can be heard. They walk to the door, it rattles from the pounding, whaling can be herd from the other side. The guard opens the door pushing the outer terrestrial. She scratches and tries to bite.

"HEY! YOU STOP THAT!"

The escort hits her with his batten, Max flinches at the violence towards the alien. She's small with messy hair, clearly caused by violence from the guard or whatever went down when being taken from her home. Her tail is wrapped around her leg in fear, her test gown is wrinkled but clean. Bandages cover her arms, and they get lost in her legs in which are covered or maybe made of some kind of slime, one of her eyes are completely black with a white pupil, Max looks at her intrigued to learn more.

"She can be quite a handful, she bites and scratches, we'll give you a taser for if she acts up."

The guard voice snaps him out of his eager trance. He nods his head.

"Okay, thank you sir."

"I shall be on my way"

He gives Max a taser and clipboard with papers to record his research, the alien presses herself against the wall, she seems to be calming down. Max thinks it's because he's smaller than the guard, less intimidating. The door shuts behind him and he's left with 0738. He sighs and prepares himself lifting the info given to him.

"Good afternoon 0738. I'm Doctor Max, you may call me Doctor. You're approximately 248 years old, quite young for your species, considering examinations on other bodies of your people. Aghem... It says here you're the last on your planet, That's unfortunate."

Shes unresponsive, he walks towards a door with medical and experimental equipment. He enters, grabs a needle and viles, a rubber trinket, and a alcohol swab.

"I'm taking blood, clench your first so I can find a vain."

He touches her arm and she bites, she doesn't let go, she pulls and kicks at Max. He clenches his teeth and pushes into her, he doesn't want to hit her, the sudden push back makes her release as she falls back. Max leaves to bandage up. He returns with a guard, who helps him restrain 0738, he watches over the guards shoulder as both 0738 and the guard struggle with each other.

"There, that should be secure. If she gets out you know what to do."

"Yes sir."

Max speaks with hesitation, the guard noticed it, the guard gave Max a stern face for it as he left. Now it's just Max and the alien, who looks at him pleasingly, her arms are bound behind her and so are her legs, her mouth is gaged to prevent biting, looking even more helpless than before, they stair at each other for a while, the staring contest ends when she begins scooting towards him with pleading eyes. He weakens and folds, removing the gag then quickly backing up. 0738 look at him. She opens her mouth like she's going to speak but doesn't. She opens her mouth again and speaks, but he can't understand, it's not any human language, though, he didn't expect her to speak any. He gets to her level and speaks to her.

"I don't understand your language, 0738. We can't communicate."

She nods and he takes out his clipboard, he writes; 0738 can't speak our language, but I presume she understands it, she tried to speak to me and I told her we can not communicate, she nodded her head in understand. Max gets up and walks towards the door.

"0738, I need to return to my other experiments, I will return tomorrow."

He leaves the room and returns to the other lab to examine his original experiment. It grew, this morning no bigger than a patridish, now the side of a grown woman's foot. He examines it's behaviors and apatite. The next morning he knocks on the door and opens it.

"Good morning 0738, I've brought you some stuff."

He places down two boxes opening one, he takes out some food.

"This is earth food, I want you to try some."

He crawls towards him leaning to look at the food, he picks something up.

"This is a peanut, pea- nut."

"Ppppp... Ppea-nu-t..."

She looks frustrated and picks up a peanut.

"Pp.. peeea-nnnuut. Peah- nut... Peaaaa-nuttt, pea-nut! Peanut!"

Max is stunned and takes out a clip board; 0738 can't communicate like us human, but she can learn English words, she said her first human word, peanut, it was said with no accents. 0738 puts one in her mouth and chews, a smile creeps on her face.

"Yummy"

She said it flawlessly, leaving Max in shock. He shakes his head and moves on to the next box.

"You can continue to snack on those foods, but I brought you a friend, I made him in my lab, quite friendly, and it doesn't eat anything."

He takes out his lab creation, it's in a little cage, cooing as the light hits it's body.

"You can name it anything you want, just be nice back, okay?"

She looks at the blob and at him nodding her head, she takes it out and pet it.

"Squish"

0738 blabs quietly, calling out "squish" under her breath. Another smile creeps along her face, the blob copy's her creating a line with it's body to look like a smile. This makes Max smile too, he's happy to see within less than 24 hours he's made 0738 a lot less hostile and hopefully feel safer.

This isn't the best so far and I'm kind of just making shit up as I go, I don't have a plan for this story and the writing is ok compared to how it used to be but I hope you enjoy the first part, I'll also be making an AO3 acc (as suggested by a friend) at some point, so I'll link it when I do!
