Chapter 8: End of prologue part 1

Start from the beginning

"Ugh that thing is creepy." Harrison said with a face that clearly displayed his disgust.

"It's just like the one in the Hell Plains, only with different hair. No eyes, no mouth, no nose, no ears, just skin. Very unsettling."

It stood motionless in front of us even as we pointed it with our weapons.

I took action first as I quickly guided purple mana across the ground towards the guardian. Right before the particles touched the guardian, it flashed a bright blue and yellow light and quickly changed positions. The flashes continued as it zipped around the trees outside of the longhouse.

"Lightning!" I shouted. Miles stood at his position inside of the longhouse but Sophia took to the top of the building for a better vantage point.

"Liam, Sophia and I will focus on trying to contain its movements. Harrison you make sure that it can't approach Sophia and Miles. Miles, make sure all of us are healthy and strong. Do you all understand?"

"Yes sir!"

Sophia quickly released a quick series of explosions, forcing the guardian out of the trees. It landed on the ground but didn't stay for long as it jumped high to escape my own mana.

"Get it now!" I shouted.

Harrison's arms surged with aura as he hurled his spear like a human cannon. However, it never connected as the guardian acrobatically dodged. The spear continued into one of the houses completely demolishing it upon impact.

Liam appeared behind the still in the air guardian and swung down on it with his massive ax. The guardian summoned a beautifully decorated sword and blocked the attack, but the weight still sent it smashing into the ground. My mana particles raced towards the downed guardian but it quickly recovered and attempted to escape. Sophia was ready however, and a massive explosion went off above the guardian's head, blocking its escape.

The explosion caused it to hesitate for a moment and my mana caught its mistake. The particles crept over the guardians feet and activated, anchoring them to the ground. Liam's ax flared with fire as he swung on the anchored guardian but his strike was blocked with only one hand on the sword. The free hand surged with lightning and drove into Liam's chest, sending him flying into another one of the nearby houses.

Miles redirected some of the animals that were empowering everyone towards making sure Liam was alright as Harrison threw a second destructive spear. The guardian threw a lightning spear of its own towards Sophia right before Harrison's grazed what would be its cheek.

Harrison jumped in front of Sophia and took the spear and raised his arms, intending to fully block the spear. All of his aura focused on his arms as the spear hit him, making a massive explosion of electricity. Sophia didn't wait to see the condition of her fiancé as another massive explosion of mana went off right on top of the guardian.

"Harrison are you alright?" Miles shouted from the longhouse.

Static continued to go off around Harrison but slowly faded away, revealing his figure. The skin on his arms had turned blacker than ash, but the rest of his body appeared to be unharmed.

"I can't feel my arms but I can move them just fine." He responded. "They should be able to be healed."

Miles grunted in response as he began to focus his intentions on healing Harrison. Liam emerged from the house that he crashed into, his jacket had been completely torn off and his scar was completely revealed, but his injuries seemed to be taken care of by Miles.

"It's not over yet!" He shouted. "Don't stop attacking!"

A blood curdling scream came from where the guardian was and was followed by uncontrolled blasts of lighting that completely cleared the dust as I took a bit of distance to avoid them. As the lighting calmed, I saw the guardian. A mouth had formed over the once blank head which I thought was more unsettling.
