Being a teenage girl has many disadvantages like having a period (which I have not had yet or had any puberty symptoms) and having to deal with touchy men and feelings you don't quite understand but there is one thing that I always have a disadvantage, having to pick an outfit.

You see my family the Parkers have many traditions among them is a great large Garden party and wearing your best spring time dresses and sun hats is a part of that jazz.

Right now I am in my bedroom with 5 Dresses on my bed trying to figure out what to wear and of course I only have a hour. I am looking in the mirror while seeing what dresses looked good, I hate looking in the mirror. I'm not saying that I don't like how my face looks but my body, I am 5ft and flat chested, I look like a twelve year old boy not a fifteen year old girl! But right now my dresses are a bigger concern.

And it's not like I don't like any of them they are all expensive puffy and pretty and of course pink (my signature color) but I still have no idea on what to do until I hear my aunt come in.

"Portia! Are you ready??" She looked beautiful. She had on a white sleeveless dress puffy with blue roses, her favorite, and a blue sash to match a real pearl necklace, black kitten heels and her pretty blonde hair tied back with a blue ribbon.
"Portia darling the party is in an hour and you are still not dressed" she sighed pointing at my white nightgown that i still have on "Aunt Bea, i am so sorry it's just.. You gave me too many options!" I explained.

She laughed "Oh sweetness i should have known"she said as she walked right over to my bed and within a second handed me the perfect dress it was light pink with hot pink polka dots and puff sleeves"here, the Kennedys gave you this as a 15th birthday present did they not?" she said, holding the dress up to me while pushing me towards my large mirror.

"Only because they want a large check to fill their already large pockets" I half heartedly joke . "Now Portia I am going to tell you a secret" she puts her mouth to my ear and whispers "Our pockets are at least 10 times bigger" we both heal over laughing until Aunt Bea jokingly pushes me to my dressing room telling me to get dressed and that she would do my hair.

A few minutes later I came out in the pink dress and a Chanel belt and off white tights. " How do I look?" I sheepishly say, " Oh my darling, just perfect!" she exclaims while patting the seat to my vanity i sit while she starts to undo the many curlers in my dirty blonde hair while i start taking off my cat eye glasses to doing my makeup "Did you take your insulin shots?" She asked while combing through my hair. "Yes ma'am, don't worry I did" I answered.

I have type one diabetes which is basically when you're pancreas doesn't make enough insulin and without insulin blood sugar can't get into your cells and build up your bloodstream which cause a whirlwind of problems and fatigue.

We stayed quiet for a while until. "Henriette is going to be there" she says still brushing out my curls.

I sigh Henriette or Hattie as we all call her has been my friend forever. She used to be the best but as we got older I've noticed some strange things that are happening to her, "I hope Hattie will be "all there" this evening" I sigh.

"Mrs. Osborn has just been hard on her lately" she says and she puts my sun hat on. It was s light beige color with a big white bow in the back.

"Put your black mary janes on and some white gloves on and meet me outside of your room" Aunt Bea says while I put my glasses back on. "Why can't I wear heels? I'm fifteen years old Aunt Bea" I ask standing up.

"Your still too young, also you know your uncle wouldn't like that" Aunt Bea says while opening the door. I sigh, as long as I live under their roof I'll never be able to wear what I want to wear.
