2nd POV
It was beginning to grow clear that you wouldn't be able to go home anytime soon.
Both yours and Badger's plates had been emptied a while ago, and now you've been busying yourself by nursing a cup of coffee and watching the snow pile up and whizz by the window. Badger was now back in your scarf, sleeping off the subtly growing panic.
There weren't many people in the cafe you were in, but you could tell the few that were here were starting to get restless.
The skeleton from before hadn't moved from their spot since they came inside, now also drinking a coffee. They seemed to look into their open coat every now and then, and you wanted to guess there might've been a bitty or two in there.
It would've been peaceful if there wasn't that painfully obvious feeling of tension in the air.
The lights flickered slightly as an employee finally got the TV in the upper corner of the cafe working again.
A human weatherman showed up on screen, bravely standing out in the middle of the blizzard on some random street. You couldn't help but feel bad for them.
"—and it doesn't seem like this blizzard is going to let up anytime soon," they said in a surprisingly clear voice, "I warn you, if you've already left the house and have found yourself stranded in a supermarket or restaurant, do not leave until instructed otherwise. Business owners and employees are expected to keep their customers inside until this storm passes."
The wind suddenly attempted to knock them over, making you wince lightly.
They laughed, "And I should probably follow my own advice! This is—" the wind picked up enough to where you couldn't hear their voice for a moment, and the TV was a little too far for you to see their name at the bottom, "—take it back over to you, Chloe."
You could see the employee sigh lightly, most likely frustrated at the thought of having to stay here for longer than expected.
You admittedly felt the same. Would you have to sleep here? It was already cold enough with the place's heater on, what would happen if the power went out?!
And as if some higher power heard your thoughts, the lights finally flickered out.
Maybe potentially omnipotent beings just liked to fuck with you.
You instinctively held your hand close to the bulge in your scarf where Badger still laid asleep. You didn't want him getting cold whatsoever.
It felt like the tension in the air was just about to snap until someone walked out from a door behind the counter.
"Now, everybody stay calm," a monster with a lion-like appearance announced, "it was just the lights. The heat is still on, and we'll try to fix the problem however best we can."
You frowned lightly— it obviously wasn't just the lights. You could feel a slight change in the temperature of the room already.
Your leg started to bounce as the few people around you started to mumble things to each other. You couldn't tell whether they were whispering compliances or doubts, but it was starting to worry you.
Then, there was a small weight against your arm.
You resisted the slight urge to flinch back at the sudden touch as you turned your attention down to— a bitty?
