Taeyong perked up at the sound of footsteps getting closer. His nerves kicked in when he spotted Taehyung, but as soon as he saw Jungkook, he jumped to his feet. "Koko hyung!" He exclaimed, enveloping Jungkook in a quick hug.

"Hey, bud! You okay?" Taeyong stepped back and looked up at Jungkook. Taehyung gasped when he noticed a cut on his lips and promptly knelt in front of him to assess for more injuries, finding some scratches on his palm.

Taeyong looked away, edging closer to Jungkook to shield himself from his hyung's view. He yearned to be wrapped up in his brother's warm embrace, but he understood how worried Taehyung could get and wanted to avoid that.

Taehyung didn't mind Taeyong prioritizing Jungkook; he knew their connection ran deep, and if anything, he felt content. Taeyong had entrusted someone with his vulnerable side, something he rarely shared with Taehyung.

Taeyong is always putting on a tough front, especially when it comes to protecting his brother. This protective instinct of his became stronger when he discovered his brother's wounds in the past.

"What's wrong, Yongie?" Taehyung asked softly, but Taeyong stayed silent, avoiding eye contact and not willing to share. Seeing this, Taehyung let out a sigh and turned to Jungkook. "I'll go speak to the principal," he said and Jungkook gave his shoulder a squeeze, nodding in reassurance.

"Does it hurt?" Jungkook inquired once Taehyung left and they were seated. Taeyong nodded with a pout, something he rarely did in front of Taehyung.

"Tell me, Yongie-ah. What happened?" Taeyong glanced behind Jungkook and suddenly tensed up. Frowning, Jungkook looked behind him to see three older and taller students stealing glances at them. Jungkook could guess by Taeyong's reaction that those students might be the ones involved in the altercation.

"Hey, I'm here with you." Jungkook assured, but Taeyong kept avoiding his gaze. So Jungkook persisted, "Do you trust me?"

Taeyong glanced up and saw Jungkook smiling at him. Taeyong nodded, feeling a sense of protection.

"I know you'd never get into a fight without a good reason. And I trust you too. So, I am going to ask you, What did they do?" Jungkook questioned, motioning towards the boys.

"T-they always take my lunch, but I refused to give it today because Hyung cooked for me." Taeyong explained nervously.

Jungkook frowned as he listened, not pleased that this was a daily occurrence and this was the first time Taeyong resisted.

Seeing Taeyong's distress, Jungkook's fists clenched in anger as he glared at the bullies.

"Please don't say this to Hyung. He'll cry." Taeyong pleaded. Jungkook's gaze softened as he reassured him. "I won't. But you should know something. I am right here. I will always be here. I am sad that you didn't let me know all these days. I--"
