"Rengoku Kyojuro, you are a good man. I hope a long life for you" Mitsuko smiled as she sat beside Kagaya, her eyes looking at Rengoku with a certain softness.
Rengoku eyes widened in surprised, the positive energy Mitsuko emitted despite her being a demon was.. strange to him. He lowered his head as a sign of respect. "I wish you a long life as well, Mitsuko-sama. Even though you do not need it as you are a demon"
Rengoku smiled at the memory, his visions starting to blur. His mother was proud of him, he had done his duty. There was no regret in his life with the choices he made. He gaze at Tanjiro one more time.
'I hope you will continue to protect them, Mitsuko-Sama' Rengoku thought, he closed his eyes. His body slouched and turn still.
"Rengoku-San" Tanjiro cried, clutching his shirt. His heart ached at the passing of Rengoku. Tears flowed down his cheeks.
The sun rose and the crow that had been watching flew away to spread the news of Rengoku's passing to the Hashira and Kagaya.
A large crow flew over them, landing behind Rengoku. It's wings covering Rengoku's body as if serving as a blanket. Light footsteps approached, a gentle hand land on Tanjiro's shoulder making him look up.
"Mitsuko-Sama" Tanjiro quivered, his body trembling from crying.
"Do not blame yourself. Go with the Kakushi" Mitsuko said gently, her eyes assuring Tanjiro. It seems she has always done that, spoke more with her eyes than her mouth. Tanjiro stood up, he glance at Rengoku's body one last time before nodding. He walks away with Inosuke and Zenitsu, trying to wipe his tears.
Mitsuko kneeled down in front of Rengoku's body, observing the tranquility in his face. "Mitsuko-Sama" Sora's voice broke her from her trance.
Mitsuko nodded, picking up Rengoku's body. A bright white sphere engulfed her and she flew with Sora beside her.
Rengoku opened his eyes, he was standing in a cloudy like floor. He scanned his surroundings and smiled when he saw his mother. "Mother.. I have finally joined you" He breaths out
"and indeed i am proud" Ruka nods, taking a step closer to Rengoku. "You have grown wonderfully, Kyojuro" She place her hands on Rengoku cheeks and Rengoku leans into her touch
"And you will continue to. It is not your time yet" Ruka said, letting go of Rengoku who stared at her in confusion
"But.. I have died, mother" He said, Ruka shakes her head "No. You are still alive. Someone has healed you and resurrected you"
"Can i not just stay here?" Rengoku smile falter, Ruka smiled softly and place her hand on Rengoku shoulder "There are people that still needs you"
Rengoku stared down at her, hesitance in his eyes before he nods "Then, I will join you another time, Mother" Rengoku grinned, he closed his eyes and a bring light encased him
His eyes fluttered open, a figure stood beside him and when his visions cleared, he saw Sora "Sora-San, i am... alive?" Rengoku said, his voice hoarsed
"Yes, you are still alive. Mitsuko-Sama has healed you and brought you back to life. Fortunately you weren't dead for that long so she could still revive your body" Sora explained, Rengoku slowly sat up, the whole in his stomach no longer there. The door slowly slid opened and a head peaked in "Is he awake, Sora-San?"
Rengoku eyes widened in shocked "Kanae? You are alive?"
Kanae giggled at Rengoku reaction, she walks in and slid the door close "Yes, i am alive. Mitsuko-Sama has saved me too" She smiled
"Your sister will be glad once she knows" Rengoku smiled, happy that a former hashira was still alive all along
"Ah.. Rengoku-San, the thing is, we have to stay in secrecy for now. Until Mitsuko-Sama says that it's okay to reveal that we are still alive" Kanae informed, Rengoku stared at her. He hums in understanding
"I see. But first, i have to express my gratitude to her" Rengoku said, as he was about to get up, Sora place her hand on his shoulder and sat him back down
"Mitsuko-Sama is busy at the moment. You can express you gratitude later" Sora said, halting his movements
"I see, very well then" Rengoku obediently stayed still, Kanae clap her hand "Well it is good to have you, Rengoku-San. It's been awhile since i had company other than Mitsuko-Sama and Sora-San" She grinned
"I will be in your company then!" Rengoku said enthusiastically
