One full month had passed. The hospital asked if they wanted to turn off the machines sustaining Fanum throughout all the time and they had been rejecting this request since they couldn't yet acknowledge the fact their love wasn't going to wake up anymore from what the doctors had told them.

Alejandro and Archie were now a month old, not knowing the smell or the smiling face of their mother. Anastasia and Jaiden would ask for Fanum every day, crying at the sight of the man's picture around the house, screaming for his name and for their father to scent them as his but their needs were never getting fulfilled as they needed.

Kai was going through serious stress and PTSD from the same night. His dreams are haunted by the fact he might never have his Alpha back, or never be able to see his smile one last time. The stress of taking care of four kids was greatly showing on him. Dark black circles under his eyes, and baggy clothing which made him look like someone who just finished a nine-to-five in the middle of summer in the open. Stress marks littered his forehead like a painting and the smell of tired pheromones moved along with him. Now smelling like daisies and over-fermented honey.

Duke was always in the hospital. Also, him having signs of stress showing on him. From the fear of losing his beloved Alpha, he would stay up throughout the night and day, taking brief naps every once in a while. No matter what the doctors told him he would always stay in the room checking over Faum. The noise of the heart monitors is something normal.

He was holding Fanum's hand, attempting again to squeeze the man's hand and get a reaction but nothing. He didn't cry even once for the past month, forcefully blocking the seriousness of the situation from his head.

But now, now, it was different, tears were falling down his face involuntary, quiet hicks and sobs following straight after. Before loud pleas for them to just give a small movement of his body, to show he was still alive and hearing him followed.

"Wake up!" He snapped angrily at the sleeping man in his Enigma voice. For a few seconds, that felt like an eternity nothing happened. Te a small movement of his finger, followed by the tightening of a hand.

Duke nonetheless was surprised and scared at the same time. It could be just an involuntary twitch as the doctor had said a few weeks ago, when the same thing had happened. The Enigma stared at the fingers wrapped around his hand in hope.

Then he looked at Fanum to be met with a smile from his mate. The soft eyes looked at him in love and tiredness. "Fanum" he called out, jumping for joy. Next thing he knew he was alerting the doctors and calling Kai on the phone, screaming the news at the top of his lungs as well as crying. All the emotions he had been suppressing were finally emerging in full force.

The next day

Oddly enough the man was distraged the same day he had woken up. The hospital had said there was nothing wrong, the wounds had healed up perfectly and he didn't need to stay there any longer as long as he didn't stress himself too much.

He was now sitting in the living room of his home after a month of coma in the hospital. His nose was overwhelmed in the best way possible by the scent of his mates being happy to see him, and the warmth of the house finally coming back.

"Papa!" two small voices screamed for him at the end of the couch, running after him to get the hug they had been waiting for, for what felt like an eternity. He opened his hand smiling when he felt the weight of Anastasia and Jaiden on him. Then the cries of two smaller children followed the giggles of the older twins.

'My babies' his inner voice called out, making all his senses stand in alert.

Duke and Kai were holding his kids out for him to carry them and scent them for the first time. And so he did, making the two little bundles smell like sweet pineapples and lilacs.

"Kai, Duke!" Fanum called for his mates, who immediately shifted their attention towards the man in worry. "The two of you look dead" the Alpha commented, smiling brightly at the stunt faces his mates had given him before he got attacked by a bunch of pillows being thrown at him at full force. "Nigga it's all your fault!"Duke throws another pillow at the man while giving him the fault.

Kai remained silent. "By the way" he started, flashing his eyes to a soft blue unknowingly. "I'm about to go into heat" he announced, smiling like a brat at the inappropriate confession. Duke looked at the Omega, his look screaming, this is not the time; but before he could say anything Fanum took over "I'm down for it" neglecting all the rules given to him by the doctors.
