Rick was eventually able to walk on his own.

April kept at a medium pace, not completely beside Rick but close enough.

Carl however was speed walking, close to running.

"Carl, wait for your dad"

She yelled to the boy up ahead.

He didn't slow down, keeping his pace.

His father caught up to him, holding him back.

"We'll find a shelter, with food, we're gonna be alright"

He looked up at Rick with a look.

A specific look.

The same way April had looked at her own dad after her mom died.

She stood there awkwardly waiting for the interaction to be over.

They eventually waked long enough and got to a building.

There were motorcycles out front.

"Wait outside, keep watch"

He directed the teens.

"You keep watch, you can barely stand, I'm not gonna let you go in there alone"

"Excuse me?"

"We've done this before, we can help you clear it, or you could let me do it myself"

"He's got a point Rick, your injured, let us help"

He nodded and opened the door.

The three held up their guns as they walked in.

Rick went into the kitchen first, Carl and April walked into another room.

Groaning came from behind a stack of chairs, this wasn't helping the situation.

"I'll lure it out, then kill it"

April wasn't having it, she knew it would end in a fight so she hopped over the counter and stuck her knife in its head.

"Easy"

"I could've done it"

"Yeah but I did"

Carl rolled his eyes at her before hopping over the counter himself to help look for things.

There was a good amount of food for them, Rick came in with bottles of water.

"My haul, you guys?"

"Food, we win"

They placed there findings into a bag then left the building.

"God I think I'll die if I take one more step"

This was her attempt at making small talk.

No one was having it.

"Hey I see a house up there" this was a better attempt at catching their attention.

"Okay, search for walkers, then we'll secure the door, in that order"

Rick entered first, he whistled to try and lure out any walkers.

Carl began to walk off, not before a comment from his dad.

"There could be walkers"

He rolled his eyes and banged on the wall.

"Hey asshole!"

"Hey shitface!"

"Hey-"

"Watch your mouth"
