I pressed my lips into a thin line and leaned back in my seat, biting back a small sigh and folding my arms across my chest. My whole body was tense, and my heart skipped a beat before it started to pound faster and harder in my chest.

I looked at my mate before I looked at Aunt Jess, pressing my lips into a thin line. I didn't say a word while I looked at them, not knowing what to do or what to say and wondering what was going to happen to me.

"You're going to be staying with us, and you will be staying with my mom in a safe room i-, well, when, the fight comes to us, Katie," Daniel said and squeezed my hand, and I looked at him with wide eyes.

Aunt Jess bit back a small tsk while she rolled her eyes and scowled, and Daniel, David, and Roger instantly looked at her. She didn't say a word but stared at them unamused, slowly blinking.

"Care to explain that tsk?" David asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and she looked at him before she cocked her head and studied him with a cold look on her face. "You aren't going to go out there and fight. You can barely stand sometimes, Jess."

Aunt Jess bit back a small smirk and shrugged. "I know, but that doesn't mean I can't take care of myself," she said with a small hum in her voice before she cleared her throat and shifted in her seat. "I am still able to take care of myself, David."

"Yes, but you are pregnant, Jess," Roger warned, and she looked at him. "Are you saying that they could attack when the baby is due to be born?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question.

Aunt Jess cleared her throat and took a sip of her drink, her face blank but something appeared in her eyes that I didn't like. "That is something that we should talk about when we are alone," she said and placed her drink on the table before she cleared her throat and shifted in her seat again.

David looked at Aunt Jess and pressed his lips into a thin line. He didn't say a word and asked something through their shared mindlink, but Aunt Jess didn't respond and slowly blinked.

He bit back a small scoff and rolled his eyes but didn't say another word while he continued to eat.

Daniel cleared his throat and shifted in his seat, and we looked at him at the same time. There was a pained look on his face, and I had a feeling that he believed the same thing that his father did.

They were going to come when the baby was born...

"When do you want to talk to Sarah?" he asked softly while he looked at me. "We are going to have to talk to her soon because we will need to have this discussion today." He looked at his mother when he emphasized the word "today," and she bit back a small smirk.

"Hmph," she said and rubbed her belly while she leaned in the back of her seat. She didn't say another word and bit back a small sigh while she looked at me and then looked at her son.

I hesitated before I looked at my empty plate and then at him. 'Now?' I asked and raised an eyebrow in question before I furrowed my brows and cocked my head while I studied him. 'Or are you still hungry?'

My mate smiled and shook his head, indicating that he wasn't hungry. "I am good for now," he said and dipped his head in thanks before he cleared his throat and grew serious. "Do you mind if Parker is in the room with us?" He raised an eyebrow in question while he stared at me.

Yes...

I forced a smile on my face and shook my head, not telling him that I did mind because I knew that it would have been hypocritical of me, especially since I had my mate with us while we talked.

"Liar," my aunt said through a cough, and we instantly looked at her. She cleared her throat and moved a napkin over her face, pretending not to notice us looking at her.

"Mom," Daniel said with a small scowl in his voice. He narrowed his eyes and pressed his lips into a thin line. "What do you mean by that?"

"Oh, nothing, nothing, Dear," she said and shook her head. "I didn't mean anything by it."

Daniel scowled and narrowed his eyes while he stared at her, not believing her for a second. "What is it, Mom?" he asked. "What do you mean by calling my mate a liar?"

Aunt Jess looked at me before she looked at Daniel and slowly blinked, pressing her lips into a thin line. "That would be a question to ask Katie," she said and gestured to me, and I instantly ducked my head closer to my chest. "Or maybe you can think about it yourself and why I would say what I did."

Daniel looked at me and cocked his head while he studied me. "Katie?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question, and I hesitated before I looked down, not saying a word. "Hey, what is it? Are you comfortable with Parker being in there with us or not?"

I hesitated before I shook my head, not looking at him. My cheeks turned red, and I couldn't help but feel guilty that I wanted my mate in there with me and wouldn't allow Parker to be in there as well, especially since he was Sarah's mate.

"Do you want us to talk to you alone, me and Sarah? Both she and Parker wouldn't mind because this is about you and making sure that you are comfortable with the knowledge of her being a Werewolf and not a human like you thought. You do not have to feel guilty about it."

Again, I hesitated before I slowly nodded, silently telling him that I wanted to talk to him and Sarah alone. I knew that Parker wouldn't do anything to me, but I couldn't help but feel nervous, scared even, even though I had nothing to worry about.

He was to be my Beta, and I was to be his Luna...

Daniel bit back a small chuckle and slowly nodded. "Of course," he said before he cleared his throat, and his eyes grew glazed. "Sarah is going to be meeting us at my office," he said after he finished talking to her, and his eyes became clear while he looked at me. "Are you almost done?" He raised an eyebrow in question while he stared at me and then at my empty plate.

His cheeks turned red, and he cleared his throat and shifted in his seat. "Oh, you are already done," he said and looked at me, offering me a tight smile. "I'm sorry about that, Katie. I should have known."

I bit back a small smile and shook my head. 'It's fine,' I said. 'We can go ahead and go. I am done.'

He bit back a small chuckle and kissed my cheek before he stood and held out his hand for me to take so that he could help me stand. "Then shall we go?" he asked and raised an eyebrow in question while he stared at me.

I hesitated before I slowly nodded. 'We shall,' I said and placed my hand in his so that he could help me stand. 'Thank you.'

Daniel bit back another chuckle and placed a kiss to the side of my head. "Anything for you, Katie," he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Anything for you."

He cleared his throat and looked at the rest of them, who were watching everything with blank looks on their faces. "Excuse us. We shall see you in a bit when we are done, ok?"

Mom smiled and nodded, her smile turning sad. "Of course," she said before she cleared her throat and leaned back in her seat. "Enjoy, but do not have too much fun. Is that understood?" She raised an eyebrow in question, and my cheeks instantly went red while Daneil's turned red, too.

"Mo-om," he complained, and she bit back a small laugh. "Stop, please."

"Never, my dear, Son," she said and shook her head. "Never."

And with one final groan of annoyance, Daniel pulled me away from them so that they could talk in "peace" while we went to talk to Sarah.

Please, let her know that I wasn't mad at her, I silently prayed while I pressed my lips into a thin line and squeezed my mate's hand tighter. Please...

Because I wasn't...
