Prologue

"Ty, are you sure your parents won't change your minds?" I asked.
"I've tried to talk to them, but they won't listen. I'm so sorry, Adam." Ty replied, tears glistening in his eyes. I took his hands in mine, fighting the urge to cry myself. He leaned in and connected our lips. I tried to memorize the feeling of his lips against mine as we shared our last kiss. As we pulled away, I wiped his tears away with my thumb. "It's not forever, you know. Right after we graduate, I'll start looking for you and we'll start right where we left off. Okay?" I said with a weak smile.
Ty nodded, looking at our intertwined hands. "Okay."
The principal walked in. "Mr. Lox, are you packed? Your parents are waiting."
Ty walked over to his suitcase, picking it up and following her out of the room. He cast me a sad look over his shoulder before he disappeared into the hallway. I was left alone in our room, only now it was just mine.
