Adrian Marino

The city lights blurred past the car window as we made our way back to the university, leaving behind the bittersweet memories of saying goodbye to allysa's mom and Ana. The night air was filled with a sense of uncertainty,

Allysa sat beside me, her expression a mask of sadness, her fingers nervously fidgeting in her lap. I stole glances at her whenever I could, my heart aching at the sight of her obvious distress.

"Allysa," I finally spoke up, breaking the tension that hung in the air like a thick fog. "Are you okay?"

She turned to me, her eyes filled with a mixture of fear, uncertainty, and a hint of sadness. "I don't know, Adrian," she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'm scared. Scared of what this means for us, for our future."

I reached out, gently taking her hand in mine, offering what little comfort I could. "We'll figure this out, Allysa," I assured her, my voice soft but determined. "Together."

She looked at me then, her eyes searching mine for reassurance. "But what if we can't, Adrian?" she asked, her voice trembling with doubt. "What if we're just setting ourselves up for heartache?"

I felt a pang of guilt at her words, knowing that I was the one who had dragged her into this impossible situation. "I won't let that happen," I vowed, squeezing her hand reassuringly. "I'll do whatever it takes to protect you, to keep you safe."

Tears welled up in her eyes as she leaned closer, resting her head against my shoulder. "I don't want to ruin things for you, Adrian," she confessed, her voice barely audible over the hum of the car engine. "I don't want to tarnish your image, your career."

My heart constricted at her words, the weight of her sacrifice pressing down on me like a heavy burden. "Allysa," I murmured, my voice choked with emotion. "I would give up everything for you. My career, my reputation—none of it matters if I can't have you, i don't know why but the moment I saw you i knew that you were the one for whom I could do anything____ i know i may sound like a lovesick teenage boy but I can't help it when iam with you, no one absolutely no one has ever made me feel the way you do i have never ever admired anyone's smile like I do to yours".

I met her gaze, my heart breaking at the pain I saw reflected in her eyes. "I'll do anything to protect you, Allysa," I vowed, my voice barely above a whisper. "Even if it means sacrificing my own happiness."

With a heavy heart, I reached out, brushing a stray tear from her cheeks,
she whispered, her voice trembling with uncertainty "But What do we do now?".

I took a deep breath, steeling myself for what I knew had to come next. "If that's what you want, Allysa," I said, my voice steady despite the ache in my heart. "If you think it's best for both of us, then we'll stop."

And as the city lights blurred past us, I knew that no matter what the future held, Allysa would always be the one I loved.

As we pulled up to my apartment building, a heavy silence enveloped us, the weight of our conversation hanging in the air like a thick fog. Allysa stared out the window, lost in her own thoughts, while I struggled to find the right words to say.

"Adrian" she finally spoke up, breaking the tense silence. "I know this isn't easy, but we need to talk about what happens next." She took a deep breath, steeling herself for the difficult conversation ahead. "We can't keep pretending like this is going to go away on its own," she began, her voice steady despite the turmoil raging inside her. "We have to make a decision about what we're going to do about us".
