Rise

**A poem about getting knocked down but rising again**

Trying your best to snuff out my light
Doing all you can to destroy my fight
Putting all your effort into making me believe I am not right
Everything you do just makes me eager to bite

My emotions coil and crass
My soul on the edge of shattered glass
My heart turmoiled and rash
My voice searching for its last shred of sassy

You say you just want to help
All you do is hurt
All your words are damage to my health
All you do is just make me worse

Tension thick as thieves
Storm clouds brewing within
Posed with a sharp knife
Merely a matter of who draws first

Rolling up your sleeves
Tossing my confidence into the nearest garbage bin
Saying I am not fit for this life
Oh so eager to do your very worst

You startle
I topple
So hostile
So awful

I bend
This is the end

I cry

Then I rise
