A Cover and A Title

Firstly, one of the first things people see when they pick out a book is the cover. You want the cover to captivate the readers attention, and make them want to read the book to see what the story's about. You need to make sure the cover relates to the book, for example, don't make the cover a phone screen when the book is set in the forest.

One of the main parts of the cover is the title. In a story, a title is very important as well. The title should tell the reader something about the book without giving anything away. It could be something simple like "Skates" for a book about skating or something with a deeper meaning. The ones with deeper meanings often have a bigger purpose for their name, but before reading the book, you will not understand it. These could be the name of a character's disappearing best friend, an idiom that relates to the storyline, etc.

You don't need to choose the title or cover before writing the book either. You may decide to just start writing and base the title or cover on what you have come up with, instead of the other way around. Sometimes the best titles come to you mid-way through your story!
