Gauripur Main Road.
11: 18 am.

After exchanging pleasantries with Nayantara Anirudh opened the driver's side door of his car as Harihar moved the driver's seat forward.

This model of Cabriolet only had two doors so getting into the backseat was kinda troublesome. But for once Nayantara didn't complain about an inconvenience...because to help her get to her seat Anirudh had to hold her hand.

She felt a prickly excitement at the skin contact, along with a peak in her heart rate.

Nayantara carefully gathered her black and white zamdani saree and sat behind the driver's seat.

It has been seven months since their first meeting.

And in these last seven months she has rejected thirteen marriage offers her father and her relatives had brought for her.

It wasn't that she has fallen in love with the Roy Choudhary's oldest son after their first meeting or anything, no. But all the alliance offers she had received after meeting him...those men...they always kinda fell short compared to Anirudh Roy Choudhary's majestic persona.

None of them were as good looking or as highly educated or as morally strong as Anirudh ji was. The grandeur he had to offer...no one can live up to that.

Also she has heard it though the grapevine (namely his grandmother and some other sources) that he was one of the leading luminaries of the law world and a social reformer who has given blood sweat and tears for women right.

So why wouldn't he stand out?!

For the first time in her life her parents were persuading her to choose a life partner from those thirteen men repeatedly, showing her growing age as their reasoning...but Nayantara has stayed intransigent about her decision.

If she will marry, she will marry the best...and only the best.

Outside, Anirudh was still waiting for the other man, who was taking to the maid in a low gentle voice. Anirudh didn't meant to still he overheard them talking,

"...maaf karna Masi!" The man said joining his hands together, "Mai aap ko bhi Nayantara ji ke sath bhej deta...magar anajan logo ke sath mai do aurto ko toh nahi bhej sakta na!"

The middle aged maid closed Nayantara's umbrella and replied while handing the umbrella to the man, "Koi baat nahi Dada Babu, aap Didi moni ke sath jaiye."

The young man hesitated for a second before taking the umbrella, probably feeling bad about the fact that a woman of his mother's age will have to walk in this scorching heat. Anirudh felt bad about it too...but his hands were bound. In the end he reassured himself that these village women were much more resilient than highborn females.

She will be alright.

"Aap yeh chata leke ja..." The young man tried to offer the umbrella to the maid but his voice trailed off in the middle...they both knew how persnickety Nayantara was...she will never allow her servants to use her possessions.

This time the maid softly laughed...but it's tone was bittersweet.

"Koi baat nahi Dada Babu...mai chali jaungi. Aap mere chinta maat kijiye. Aap log jaldi jaiye...phir aaj aap ko Madras ke liye bhi toh nikalana he na!!"

The man nodded his head.

In few hours he would have to catch the train to Howrah station...and from there he would take Madras Express, to deliver Srinivas Babu's daughter's wedding jeweleries. The jeweleries were worth almost fifty thousand rupiahs... Bishnuram Babu didn't trust anyone else to deliver them but him.
