July 20th, 2552, 17:00 Hours, Planet Reach. Four days before the first contact with the Covenant on Reach.

A lone ODST lays atop a rooftop with a SRS99-AM sniper rifle. An Anti Material Rifle chambered in 14.5×114mm ammunition. It can take the hat off a Covenant Elite at 2000 yards. The soldier is relatively tall being 5,11. He looks through the scope of his rifle to scout the area in front of him. He sees his squad pinned down as gunfire rains upon them. "This is Lia, we're pinned down! These damn Insurrectionist reinforcements came out of nowhere!" A soldier says through the ODST's radio. "Copy Lieutenant, I'll do what I can to assist you guys from my position." He says. The ODST sees the Insurrectionists and aims at them through his scope. "I see now, these fuckin' Insurrectionists appeared out of nowhere. Me and my squad were sent to deal with them. Look how that is turning out for us." He thinks to himself as he holds his breath to steady his aim. The ODST puts his finger on the trigger and slowly squeezes it. The high power rifle fires as the bullet sends shockwaves through the air. The bullet hits his target dead in the chest. They fall to the ground and die instantly. He somewhat hears them yell out "SNIPER!" before they retreat into a house. He sees his squad slowly advance towards the house. His squad has Lia Johnson, an ODST like him. He has basic ODST armor. Lia however has parts of her armor painted purple. These parts are her shoulder pads, chest plate, and knee guards. Her helmet has a purple stripe going down the middle with shark teeth going along the visor. The other members are two marines with the basic UNSC marine outfit. He decides to advance with them. The ODST climbs off the rooftop and leans his sniper against the wall and pulls out a M6C/SCOOM. A silenced variant of the handgun.

He rushes over as his squad are about to breach and clear the house. "Shawn! I told you to stay put!" Lia says. Lia is 5,6 in height. "Well I wanted to assist you guys. Being a sniper isn't my only job. From what I've seen, these are the only ones left." Shawn states. "Alright, fine. You can assist us. Let's get to breaching this house they're in." Lia queues the two marines to set the charges on the door. Shawn and Lia wait on opposite sides of the door. One marine goes behind Shawn while the other goes behind Lia. Lia signals to set off the charges. The door gets blown down as they all rush inside the house. It's quiet.... Too quiet. "Wait." Lia says as she puts her hand up in a fist, signaling them to stop moving. "Something isn't right. I can feel it." Lia says as she sees a grenade pass by her head from the room next to her. She looks down at it confused. "LIA GET DOWN!" Shawn yells out as he pushes her and himself to the side. The grenade goes off and the two marines get blown to smithereens. The explosion lights up the house in an orange hew for a moment. The inner walls of the small house are in ruin. "Shit! Lia you okay?!" Shawn says as he sees blood splattered all over him. She gets off him.

"Yeah I'm fine." Lia says as she sees the insurrectionists run away from them out of the house. They assumed that everyone was killed. "Shawn! Quick! Grab your sniper! This is our only chance to get them! Don't let it slip away!" Lia yells out. "Right! I'm going now!" Shawn then books it out of the house and grabs his sniper rifle. He sees them run away in the giant field next to them. He crouches down on one knee and steadys his aim. Shawn pulls the trigger as he gets his sights on them. They all have stolen ODST gear on them. The gear is painted red and the helmets have the same shark design Lia's helmet has. The bullet penetrates two of them and they fall to the ground immediately. "Two more to go, two bullets left in the mag. Should be no problem." Shawn thinks to himself. Shawn aims, fires, one down, one to go. This one is different. Shawn sense it as the Insurrectionist aims a SPNKR Rocket launcher color coated in red. It has the insurrection logo on the side of it which is a red fist inside of a red circle. The Insurrectionist fires at Shawn. Shawn books it out of there as the rocket soars towards him. He repositions himself and takes aim once again at the Insurrectionist. An explosion goes off behind him. "You damn insurrectionist bastards. Time to die for all the people you've terrorized." Shawn takes the final shot standing up and it lands directly in the visor of the final Insurrectionist. The helmet flies off upon impact. Shawn lets out a sigh of relief.
