في يوم 21 يونيو 1980 بدأت هذه الرواية.

في مدرسة للسحر والخيال كان هناڪ عدة طلاب ولكل طالب سحر خاص يحمله تبدأ هذه الرواية عندما تلتحق طالبة جديدة تحمل قدرة مميزة لهذه المدرسة "" .

البروفيسور ستيف: مرحبا ياطلاب..! اليوم التحقت بنا طالبة جديدة لها قدرة "حكمة الظلال" وهذه من انذر انواع القدرة والسحر رحبوا بي "بيلا"

الطلاب: اهلا بيلا في مدرستنا
بيلا: يسرني الانضمام لكم شكرا جميعا.
بروفيسور ستيف: اذا اجلسي بيلا ولنبدأ بدرسنا لليوم اذا كلكم تعرفون ان هدف تشيين هذه المدرسة هو ايجاد ارض "أثلانثيس" وهي ارض مخبئة فيها عالم شرير يستحوذه الشر فقط ويريدونا تدميرنا والقضاء على جميع قدراتنا....! "تنهد البروفيسور واكمل حديثه" اذا يجب عليا ان نجد هذه الارض ونحتلها قبل ان تجدنا هيا وتقضي علينا جميعا وماتوصلنا اليه ان هذه الأرض موجودة في غابة خفية وسأبحث عن عن تفاصيل اكثر انتهت حصتنا لليوم هيا الي اللقاء ياطلاب ولاتنسوا متحدثنا عنه الي حصة اخرى.

"خرج الطلاب جميعا ومن بينهم بيلا وفي رواق مدرسة ناداها احد من...؟"

جوني: انا ايضا طالب هنا يسرني لقائك قد لفتت انتباهي قدرتك انها من انذر القدرات يالك من محظوظة.
بيلا: شكرا لك يسرني اعجابك بها
جوني: العفو. بما أنك جديدة فأكيد تحتاجين الي جولة في ارجاء هذه المدرسة هل اجولك؟
بيلا: يسرني هذا.. ابتسمت وقالت: حتى انني كنت ابحث عن دليل المدرسة

جوني: ربما انا هو الدليل

"اصوات ضحك قهقهة"

بعد تجوال بيلا في انحاء المدرسة انتهى اليوم وبيلا في سكنها المدرسي "هنالك سكن يسكن فيه جميع طلاب المدرسة"

بيلا في غرفتها مع زميلة سكنها:

بيلا: مرحبا انا زميلتك الجديدة في السكن

ستايسي: اهلا وسهلا يسرني لقاؤك يا بيلا دعيني اخمن انت الطالبه الجديده ذات قدره "حكمة الظلال"

بيلا مع ابتسامة: اجل وانت ذات قدرة...؟
ستايسي: انا قدرة "التخفي"
بيلا: واو رائعة
ستايسي: شكرا. اذا لقد تأخر الوقت هيا بنا ننام
بيلا: احلام سعيدة..!
