(Y/N) gave no response.

Silas stepped closer, then knelt down beside her bed. Even kneeling, he was huge. But she always thought of him as sort of a gentle giant. He couldn't hurt a fly, she once believed.

And now when she looked at his face, all she could see was her friends' blood.

"(Y/N)..." The very sound of his voice caused the girl to flinch. His hazel brown eyes saddened. "We want you to go back on the anxiety meds."

She looked up at him slowly, but said nothing.

The others' eyes all widened. They had discussed this just hours earlier, and they'd agreed it'd be best to not bring it up to her. While Elijah believed they should just slip them in her food, Lori couldn't help but tear up simply remembering the look of betrayal on their darling's face and refused to do such a thing again. Aziza and Naoki both thought it best to wait a few days to monitor her behavior, but Silas hadn't voiced his opinion at all.

And now here he was, bringing it up to her. They all braced themselves for the surely impending outburst.

Silas, meanwhile, took her silence as a sign to continue. "I know everything's been... a lot for you lately. And I just──" He shook his head, let out a sigh. "We think it'll help calm you down a bit. We just wanna keep you safe, and this will help you feel more comfortable." He took her hands in his' and watched her gaze dropped to the edge of her lap where he held them. "We love you," he said.

None of them would stop saying that. She wished they would. It felt like another stab to her gut each time. We love you, they said. Elijah covered in blood. We love you, they reminded her, and kept her captive in a house she once loved living in. We love you. They knocked her out each time she tried to leave. We love you. We love you. Silas murdered Jasper and Matteo.

She felt sick to her stomach. Her brain was clouded, her heart was hurting like she'd never known it could. Not during her first heartbreak. Not when her parents screamed at her for her first failing grade. Not when her dad left. Not when she was sick with bronchitis in middle school and every breath sent a blaze through her chest. Not when her mom left her alone for hours, leaving her to wonder if maybe there was something in her that was not meant to be loved. This was worse than anything she'd ever known.

She just wanted it to stop.

"So..." He pressed a gentle kiss to her knuckles. "Is that okay, sweetheart?"

She nodded.

Everyone in the room appeared visibly surprised at the girl's answer. Everyone except Silas.

But, finally snapping out of it, Naoki stepped forward and sat next to (Y/N) on the bed. "We'll start 'em tonight before you go to bed, hopefully that'll help with the dizziness." She didn't question how he knew about that, why bother at that point? "We're gonna crush them up in your dinner, yeah? That way you don't have to even think about it."

(Y/N)'s dazed (E/C) slowly shifted to look at Naoki. She nodded, but once again didn't speak.

Clearing her throat, Naoki put on a smile. "We'll start that tonight, then."

"Do you need anything else?" Lori chimed in, hopeful and desperate to find something to do for her darling. She hated seeing her like this, it was breaking her apart and she wasn't sure how much more she could take. "Something to eat?"

But once again, (Y/N) refused. "Not hungry..."

"(Y/N)──" Elijah started.

But he was quickly cut off by Aziza. "Leave it," she muttered. "She needs time. Let's give her some space." Aziza was much more patient than her counterparts. Where they were obviously desperate, she always appeared calm. But there was a storm brewing underneath, a darkness that was easy to underestimate... for now.

One by one, each said their goodbyes and departed from room. They walked downstairs, and congregated in the kitchen. After all, there was much to discuss.

"I thought we agreed not to say anything about the meds to her," Elijah started, his voice taking on a bitter tone.

Silas shrugged. His whole demeanor seemed to have shifted drastically. Where once, he was consumed by worry and caution, now he seemed so assured that it was a little unsettling. "Worked out, didn't it?"

"We need to work as a team," Aziza said. "Otherwise, everything falls apart."

Neither of the former two commented on that.

"How'd you know she'd agree?" Lori couldn't help but ask.

"After everything... (Y/N) is hurting so much," Silas said. "It'd be a lot for anyone, but someone as sweet and gentle as her? It's too much." He hated seeing her in such anguish, even if he was still firmly deluded in his belief that it was all for the best. "She can't handle all the violence like we can, and she's desperate for a way out. So I knew she'd agree when she was offered one."

There was a pause for a moment. Then, Naoki spoke. "I don't like you manipulating her like this."

"It's not──"

"You're using her pain to get the result you want," Naoki insisted. "And I don't like it."

"It's all for the best," Silas said. "The meds will help keep her stable until we can help her understand that all we want is to keep her safe." He looked away. "I don't like this either," he admitted. Then he looked back to Naoki. "But I'll do anything to protect her. Even if if means doing things I don't like."

All five of them were unrecognizable to who they were just under two months ago. All five were changed, darkened, and hardened. All five met (Y/N), and allowed their affection to fester into an all-consuming devotion that was indistinguishable from a deep, dangerous sickness.

And all six members of the house would never be the same.

SATURDAY, JULY 14, 2018

As the moon rose in the sky, and washed its delicate light over the darkened forest, a gust of wind rustled the leaves on the trees. It carried through to the center of the woods, where a newly dug grave was laid alone. There, eight feet down, two slowly rotting bodies held each in their last embrace, and a phone buzzed once again.

1:11 a.m.

ivy: i can't sleep. i'm really worried about you guys. please tell me you're okay.

The moon soon fell, and the sun rose in the east to take its place. A golden light was cast over everything. Beautiful pinks and oranges and blues melted together into the most beautiful sunrise one could hope to see.

But Jasper and Matteo would never see another one again.

8:22 a.m.

ivy: you didn't show up for work again
ivy: did something happen?

9:49 a.m.

ivy: i'm calling the police. wherever you guys are, please hold on. i'm gonna get help
ivy: i love you
ivy: please be okay
