When I was younger I used to leave little notes on the desks of people I had feelings for.
No words of admiration.
No sentences confessing my love.
Just drawings of their favorite character, or flower.
I never left my name, that would give the secret away. Back then I was too closed in to say I was gay.
I was in high school then, hoping that person was my one.
I hoped I could look into their brown eyes and run my hands through their brown hair. But now...
Now all of that seems irrelevant to me.
I can't imagine falling over for brown eyes when I melt for your ocean blues.
I can't imagine wanting to run my fingers through their dark hair when I crave the touch of your waves like a nicotine addict craves a cigarette. Or a drug addict craves cocaine.
I can't imagine drawing their favorite characters when all I can think about is the curve of your nose, and how your lips are so perfectly round.
I can't imagine ever wanting them to be the one.
I hadn't met you yet.
No, it was way too early.
But still, our timing is impeccable. No, I can't imagine anyone else, not nearly.
So dearly to my heart, do I hold you near.
I was clearly meant for you, no one else for me, my dear.
No one else will ever be the one for me, I fear.
You have my heart to carry so it appears.
Break it if you'd like, you can keep it as a souvenir.
Because unfortunate for me in that case, you're the only one for me, that's clear.
The only one for me, mere fate I'd say. Destiny how your heart was sent to me.
All I spend my days now doing is drawing pictures to send to you. Writing letters filled with admiration, love, and confession.
I do my best to make them my best.
No one else for me. Don't I know it.
No one else for me. God knows it's written all over my face whenever someone says your name.
No one else for me. God knows I show it.
You're my one.
My one I'd hope to be married to one day.
My one.
My one I hope never goes away.
My one.
Can I say, lord knows I'll stay.
My one.
God knows, these feelings will never fade.
My one. My one.
