The war on the stone steps had gotten worse, so much so that Cerys hadn't seen her cousin and uncle in months. During those months Viserys did not stop asking about his father, every time he saw the dragons flying he exclaimed calling him, but when he realized that he was not Caraxes he became disappointed and burst into tears. Crying that was followed by Aiyana's, who apparently couldn't tolerate hearing her brother cry. In those moments she and Haizea had to juggle the children to stop them from crying, it took her a while to figure out how to stop the tears, but one day when Viserys didn't seem to find comfort Cerys turned to her dragons and thus discovered that carrying her eldest son to fly calmed him down. Like a Targaryen, Haizea had said when she saw them descend from Dhagara's back.

They had just celebrated Aiyana's second year of life, a month before they had celebrated Viserys's third, the two of them without their father's presence. Daemon's absence was beginning to bother the white-haired girl, who more than once wondered if it was time to return to King's Landing. She knew that her father would welcome her with open arms, even with her children, and Rhaenyra would be happy to know that she was her aunt. However, she also knew that her children would be singled out by everyone, called bastards, and condemned for the rest of their lives. Seeing the violet eyes that looked at her with enthusiasm when they discovered something new eliminated all thoughts of King's Landing, if she returned she was not going to hold back from going against those who insulted her children and that could cause a war that no one wanted.

"My princess!". Haizae shouted from the top of the hill.

Both Cerys and the children and the dragons turned their heads in the direction of the woman who was descending the hill in a hurry.

"My princess, something has happened," the woman was sweaty and her breathing was irregular from running. "I heard rumors about the war on the stone steps."

"Rumors?" Cerys's stomach flipped.

Had something happened to Daemon? Or Laenor? Just thinking about it made her feel like he was going to die.

"They say things are bad, I don't know how true that is, but some were talking about how the prince was losing the war," she quickly explained.

"Nothing about the status of Daemon or Laenor?" the woman denied.

"But I also heard rumors about Princess Rhaenyra and her father, the king," the mention of her sister and her father made her hold her breath. "Apparently the princess is in Dragonstone, looking for an engagement, and the king made an announcement to the people."

"What announcement?" Aiyana shifted in her arms.

"King Viserys pronounced you dead." Cerys looked at her eldest son, "apparently several witnesses reported seeing Dhagara and Drakon flying without a rider so they assumed the worst."
