Unwanted. Unloved. And Unlucky.
I. She was born unlucky—and the gods haven't let her forget it. After her mother died from a illness, Bellamy was left in the care of her uncle, Terrance; a bitter, cruel man who made sure she knew she was nothing more than a burden. Life with him taught her how to shout before speaking, how to glare before trusting, and how to keep people at arm's length. His cruelty taught her to survive, but not how to live.
II. Camp Half-Blood was supposed to be her escape. A place where she'd finally belong. It wasn't. Years have passed. She's still unclaimed by any god. Still unwanted. She didn't fit in there either. Her sharp tongue and temper make sure of that. The other campers keep their distance, and she tells herself that's exactly how she likes it.
