Chapter one:An unwanted union

It starts with a young fire bender named Mona.She had a sister named Akka and a mother and father.Mona was the only fire bender in her family.Their family was very rich and well known throughout the Fire nation. Mona was the oldest sister of her family. Little did she know Mona's parents were keeping a secret from her.
One night they sat Mona down in the den and had a talk with her.
“Mona,we need to talk…”Her mother said
“What is it?Did I do something wrong?”Mona asked
“No,no,This is a good thing.”Mona's father said
Mona's eyes lit up slightly.
“What is it?”She asked
“You're getting married!!!”They said in unison
“WHAT?”Mona yelled
“Aren't you excited,you get to spread out family name!”Her mother exclaimed
“How is this a good thing?”Mona asked
“Because you get to marry somebody important to help your family.”Her father said
“Do I not get a say in this?”Mona asked
“Now Mona, Don't be selfish.Benton is a nice boy.”Her mother said
“So I don't even get to choose who I marry?”Mona asked
“Enough Mona!”Her father yelled
“You are marrying this boy whether you want to or not.”Her father said
“No I won't!”Mona said
Mona's father slapped her in the face.
“Enough of this,You will meet Benton tomorrow and marry him to spread our family name,Do you understand?”Her father asked angrily
“We'll see…”
Mona went to her room and came up with a plan.After planning for a couple hours there was a knock on the front door.It was Mona’s suitor Benton.
“Oh Mona,your suitor is here.”Her father called
Mona stayed silent.
Mona’s father opened Mona’s door to her room and let Benton in.Benton had reddish brown eyes,pale skin,and red messy hair.
“I’ll let you two get acquainted.”Her father said,closing the door behind him.
“So,you’re my future wife?”Benton asked
“Are you Benton?”Mona asked
“That I am,I hear you’re a firebender;That’ll be great for working in the kitchen while I perform my duties.”Benton said
“Who says I’ll be cooking for you?”Mona asked,clearly offended by Benton’s statement
“Well you are a girl and that’s all women are good for is cooking and cleaning.”Benton said
“Real men don’t think that way.”Mona said
“DON’T YOU DARE TALK BACK TO ME!”Benton yelled
Benton tried to hit Mona but Mona swung at him with a fistful of fire.
She burned his left cheek and had Benton cowering.
“DON’T EVER RAISE YOUR HAND TO ME!”Mona yelled
“You Bitch!”Benton exclaimed
“Get out,now!”Mona said
Benton quickly left and Mona grabbed a few of her things and snuck out the window with a disguise and enough money to buy herself some food and a small outrigger canoe.
She planned to go to the earth kingdom and live her life out in the wild. It'll be lonely but she will be at peace.
