27: the jester and the fools

"Good job, Yuseung." The reader followed up with praise. Just as he was about to call for everyone's attention, the ground shook, causing pebbles and alike to rumble. A monster right off the bat?! However, Dokja felt deadpan as soon as he heard his sunbae's call.

"Gilyoung!" The beau called with a smile as a Giant Praying Mantis stepped out from behind the highrise buildings. "You seem to be having fun without us."

"Hyung! Dokja!"

The young boy quickly slid down the mantis' front legs. He stumbled once his feet touched the ground but Gilyoung made haste and grabbed one arm of Eun-Byeol and Dokja. After, Gilyoung released Dokja's arm before clinging onto Eun-Byeol, who pulled his arm up and let the child dangle like a monkey.

"Hyung, you know, I saw a lot of insects to play with!"

"Yeah? Did you have fun playing with them?"

"Yup!" Gilyoung began swinging his legs for fun before turning his head towards Binna. "Noona! I'll let you ride my friend over there!"

"You're the best! Why don't you go with me-- huh? Yuseung?"

Ahn Binna was stunned when the little girl just standing beside her a second ago disappeared in a blink of an eye. Huh? Where did Yuseung go? A startled yell caught everyone's attention, causing them to glance at the source.

Apparently, Yuseung appeared beside Eun-Byeol, pushed Gilyoung's face, and hugged the beau around the waist. "Mister, who's that boy?"

One look and it was obvious what was going on.

Ahn Binna huffed, marched towards them, and pushed Yuseung and Gilyoung (who was about to cling onto the beau again) away. This time, it was her turn to hug the beau. "Excuse me?! The only one allowed to hug my brother is me, his favorite little sister!"

"Wha-- I thought you agreed to let me hug hyung, noona!"

"Well, I changed my mind."

Lightning crackled between the three children. They looked as if they were about to enter a brawl and fight until only one came out on top.

Kim Dokja cleared his throat but the way his shoulders quivered obviously showed how much he wanted to laugh.

"Sunbae-nim is really good with children." Sangah couldn't help but comment. After all, she was so used to the sunbae from Mino Soft. Until now, it took her a while to get used to this side of Eun-Byeol.

Ahn Eun-Byeol laughed, picked up his sister, and rubbed their cheeks together. "That's right. My Binna is my favorite~"

The two of them made comically kissy faces at each other, causing Sangah to giggle. Yuseung and Gilyoung puffed their cheeks out in envy. Kim Dokja couldn't help but shake his head in amusement, whipping out his phone that suddenly vibrated.

Han Donghoon
Nice to see you again, Dokja.

The reader was speechless. Donghoon was just beside him but this teen still texted him as if they were in different places. Whatever floats his boat. "Would it hurt if you just spoke to me? I'm right in front of you, you know."

Han Donghoon
No, thank you. I don't want to.

Gilyoung: "Dokja!"

Yuseung: "Mister!"

Huh? The reader glanced down as a pair of children hugged his waist.

"Noona is being a meanie!"

"That boy's been glaring at me!"

"..."

Dokja sent a look of helplessness at his sunbae's direction, only to be met by two pairs of amused gazes. Okay, fine, I shouldn't have laughed earlier. Now, I'm in sunbae's shoes. "Kids, don't fight." He placed a hand on their heads. "Why don't we eat first? Let's get to know each other better while we maximize our skills here."
