Indian weddings are a goddamn festival itself! Especially Punjabi weddings, where you eat-dance, eat-dance, and then again, eat dance! You basically eat and dance XD
I love weddings. (OBVIOUSLY NOT INTERSTED IN MY OWN)
Last year it was my sister's wedding in November, My Jiju (brother-in-law) lives in the United States (he is such a sweetheart) So his whole family had to come to India for the wedding. This included his Over the top cousins too
The first two days of the celebration were the best like we all were dancing, singing and partying the whole night but then comes BARAAT
It is the most boring day for the bride's family, I know it is contrary that on the side Groom's family and friends are ready to break the freaking road with their naagin dance (snake dance) and dhol (drum), and on the other hand there is SILENCE ( SAVING ENERGY TO CRY ON BIDAI LOL)
So my mum told that everyone was coming from America, everyone else was like amazed "OMG AMREEKA WAH JI WAH" and I knew that everyone would try to be nicer to them to stay in their good books just because they are from America, (I bet you are not shocked if you are Indian)
but I, how can I be like ordinary people? am different! (WIERD TOO) so I became more hostile , I was like "then what if they are from America, am I lesser than them in any way? they are humans only no? " and I was tough towards them in my head
My whole thought process is different from what everyone thinks, (or MAYBE I AM NOT HUMAN OR JUST AN ALIEN, ELON MUSK'S COUSIN 123-AEIP -just kidding)
Yeah I decided not to pay attention and ignore as much as possible because these Amreeki bacche (American kids) would be too much (YES I JUDGE THE BOOK WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT)
So basically staying away from blond haired, or people with accent like "YeAhWeGoTaAdOiTBrooo"(RACISM? WHO SAID IT?)
It was time for the ribbon cutting (A ceremony in which the groom had to give money to the bride's sisters to cut the ribbon to enter the palace) and guess who was the sister? It was? It was? "DRUMROLLS" Meeeeeeeeeeeeee
(WHAT A BUILD UP , NO ONE KNEW IT WAS ME -RIGHT? XD)
It was me but I had no experience in any of this stuff, it was my first time holding a thali (plate) with scissors, flowers, and sweets in it , I was thinking myself as the mom in Kabhi khushi kabhi gum and I could feel that "aaaaaaaaaaaa kabhi khushi kabhi gum tune play in my head" but then SUDDENLY everyone was silent
I was like "OKAYYYYY nOwHaTtOdOmUmMAA" and as usual my mumma was not there, I FREAKED OUT
I was just waiting for my mum to tell me what to do, I was like "Mumma where are you :( there was an awkward silence on the entrance, me and our relatives on a side and jiju's family on another side, It seemed like everyone's eyes were hooked on me to say something, then came to my mumma saying "Oyeee hoye hoyeee"

Take some more time no mumma? When even I'll get married then come no? "oYE HOYE HOYE mimicked her*
(OBVIOUSLY IN MY HEAD, I CAN'T SAY THAT TO MOM , RIGHT?)
She came and told me the ritual and to demand money, the only guy I knew in that mob of baratai's was my jiju and I was pretty comfortable with him, So I pretty jokingly demanded 1 lakh, one of the barati said " SIRF Ek lakhhh? sada ghar , property and bank details vi lai lo (only 1 lakh ? take our property , bank details and house as well)
I said why not? also I don't want the cheque, Either Google-pay it or give it as cash ,I heard a chuckle
my mother just punched me lightly (LIGHTLY , ACCORDING TO HER, IT FELT LIKE A HAMMER TO ME) I could see everyone being flattered ON me because of my confidence, Everyone was giggling and laughing
I was laughing too and THEN...🙈

Author's Note :- I had already written this part but unfortunately had no time to upload it ,also another part is half written, I'll try my best to complete it now , but in some cases if I don't just wait for my exams to end 😭
