-Normal-ish Day of School-

Start from the beginning

The beautiful sun shone down on us, the golden rays of light warming us up. I felt a sense of peace settle over me. The weight that had burdened me lifted, replaced by a glimmer of hope and healing. Keefe's presence had been a balm to my wounded heart, his empathy a beacon of light in the darkness.

"Thank you, Keefe," I whispered, my voice barely above a breath. "For being here for me, for listening, for understanding."

He smiled; his gaze unwavering. "Anytime, Foster. Friends stick together, no matter what. You don't have to face this alone." I smiled at his words.

"You know, Fitz might not have understood your worth, but I do," Keefe said, his voice soft but resolute. "You're an amazing person, Foster. Don't let anyone make you doubt that."

And in that moment, I knew that I was not alone. Keefe's friendship was a precious gift, a reminder that love and support could come from unexpected places. As we sat side by side, watching the last rays of sunlight fade into twilight, I felt a new sense of strength and resilience blooming within me.

The gardens of Foxfire had witnessed the unraveling of my heartache and the gentle touch of healing that followed. And as I rose to leave, Keefe by my side, I knew that the road ahead would be challenging, but I would face it with courage and grace.

Without hesitation, Keefe reached out and squeezed my hand gently, his touch a comforting anchor in the turmoil of my emotions. "Fitz may have his own issues, but that doesn't define you, Sophie. You're strong, brave, and incredibly kind. Don't let his words diminish all the wonderful qualities that make you who you are," he said softly, his gaze unwavering.

I felt a sense of gratitude wash over me at his words, a flicker of hope reigniting within my heart. Keefe always had a way of seeing beyond the surface and understanding me in a way few others could. His friendship was a beacon of light in the darkness of my sorrow.

As we finished our meal in companionable silence, the weight of my heartache felt lighter, buoyed by the presence of Keefe beside me. His infectious laughter and easy banter chased away the shadows that had clouded my thoughts, and I found myself smiling more genuinely than I had in days.

"Come on, Foster. Let's go for a walk. The sun is shining, and the breeze feels amazing. A change of scenery might do you some good," Keefe suggested, his eyes alight with mischief. I nodded, grateful for his impromptu plan to lift my spirits.

We wandered through the winding paths of the Foxfire gardens, the vibrant blooms and verdant foliage serving as a soothing backdrop to our conversation. Keefe regaled me with tales of his latest pranks and antics, each story punctuated by my laughter and playful teasing.

As we reached a secluded grove at the edge of the garden, Keefe turned to me with a mischievous glint in his eyes. "I have an idea. Close your eyes," he instructed, his tone filled with anticipation. I complied, a sense of curiosity blossoming within me.

A moment later, I felt something cool and smooth pressed into my palm. Opening my eyes, I found a delicate silver necklace with a shimmering crystal pendant nestled in my hand. Tears welled up in my eyes at the unexpected gesture, the beauty of the gift taking my breath away.

"It's a Moonlark crystal, Sophie. I made it for you. It's a symbol of hope, healing, and strength. Whenever you wear it, remember that you're never alone, and that brighter days are ahead," Keefe explained, his gaze earnest and filled with unspoken emotions.

I threw my arms around him in a tight hug, overwhelmed by the depth of his kindness and understanding. The warmth of his embrace enveloped me like a protective shield, banishing the remnants of my sorrow and filling me with a sense of gratitude for his unwavering friendship.

As we stood in the quiet grove, bathed in the dappled sunlight filtering through the canopy above, I felt a sense of peace settle over me. The pain of Fitz's breakup still lingered somewhere in the depths of my heart, but it no longer held me captive in its grip.

With Keefe's friendship as a guiding light, I knew that I could weather any storm, overcome any obstacle, and emerge stronger on the other side. Together, we strolled back towards Foxfire Academy, our laughter mingling with the gentle rustle of leaves and the promise of a brighter tomorrow on the horizon.

As we reached the main courtyard, the sound of familiar voices and laughter echoed in the air, drawing us towards the heart of our shared adventures and camaraderie. With Keefe by my side, I knew that I was never truly alone, that his unwavering support and friendship would always be a source of strength in my times of need.

We made our way back inside Foxfire, I felt a I felt a sense of hope and renewal blossom within me, a testament to the power of friendship, kindness, and the indomitable spirit that resided within each of us.

With Keefe's hand in mine, I stepped forward into the future, ready to face whatever challenges lay ahead, knowing that as long as we had each other, we could overcome anything that came our way.

And in that moment, surrounded by the beauty of the gardens and the echoes of laughter and friendship, I knew that no matter what trials or tribulations awaited us, I would always have Keefe by my side, a steadfast companion and confidant in the journey of life.

*Eh....filler chapter with a sweet touch of Sokeefe. 😊

"How do miracles just happen like that? Happen like that, happen like that. You can say the stars align. But I know that it's more than timing. How do miracles just happen like that? Happen like that, happen like that. Right before I hit the ground some. How you came along and found me." (Miracles-Colton Dixon)
