AEMOND, 134 AC

The parchment was burning his skin through his shirt. He wanted to get rid of it, to throw it away or to hide it where it could never be found. The letters belonged to Alayne, but they were from her family. He wanted to know the words that were written there, but he couldn't bring himself to open them.

How Aemond had wanted to scream at his mother for invading his wife's privacy, for keeping her letters, for poking her nose into their marital affairs. Though she was the queen and his mother, she didn't have the right to do such a thing. Aemond and Alayne's marriage was under the dominion of the gods, not the queen.

She had a whole packet of letters, and somehow, Aemond didn't think that they were only from this morning. The ink on the fronts were of varying shades, as if a few had been sitting out in the sun for a few days.
