Katherine's POV

Tonight is the night I can finally stop running. The day to finally regain my freedom but I knew better than to trust Klaus.

He would probably attempt to kill me after I trade him the Moonstone, but no worries.

Before anything can happen to me, the Salvatore's and Y/N would arrive to deal with him.

Ugh, what was I doing?

The infamous Katherine Pierce relying on a mere human and his vampire relatives to come to my rescue.

This thought was enough to make me cringe, however I knew that Y/N L/N was far from the average human.

From his mesmerizing eyes to his beautiful voice...

I guess you could say that I was growing fond of him despite the minor interaction's we've had.

After all, unbeknownst to him, the masquerade ball definitely wasn't the first time we met...

But enough swooning over Y/N, I had to focus on the task at hand which was successfully trading the Moonstone for my freedom.

"Glad you could make it." Klaus said as I walked towards where he was standing which was a couple feet away from the Clock Tower.

"I wouldn't dare miss an opportunity like this." I replied with a smirk on my lips.

"So you've finally come to the realization that you can't outrun me." He stated with a devious smile.

"You don't need to chase me if there's a human doppelganger in town." I said, referring to the fact that the blood of a dead doppelganger was the only way to unlock the power of the Moonstone.

Vampire blood doesn't count.

Klaus has been after me to get revenge for ruining his plans, knowing that fact.

Over 500 years ago, back when I was still human, Klaus tried to sacrifice me in order to unlock the power of the Moonstone.
Fortunately however, I ran away and came up with a plan to live on.

Since I had vampire blood in my system that day, I killed myself in order to turn into a vamp, rendering my blood useless when it came to the Moonstone.

"Elena Gilbert, that's the name of the doppelganger you just mentioned and I'll be making sure to grant her a visit after this encounter." He told me as I pulled out the Moonstone from my pocket.

"Before I hand this over to you, I need to make sure that my freedom will be guaranteed." I spoke as his smile slowly began to disappear from his face

"Why of course, I'll have no need for you after you give me the Moonstone...consider this your way of righting what wrongs you committed towards me in the past." He assured me before I let out a loud chuckle.

"What's so funny luv?" He asked with a weak smile and a deathly gaze.

"Did you really think that I would put my trust in you?" I asked.

"Choose your next words wisely, Katerina."

"Katerina Petrova died along with your chances of ever getting the Moonstone." I stated boldly.

"What makes you so sure of that?" He questioned harshly.

"You and I aren't the only ones here." I revealed right as, Stefan, Y/N and Damon stepped out from the shadows.

Right on time.

"Are you sure you want to do this because there will be consequences." Klaus warned with a scowl on his face before sighing.

"So you've chosen death." He stated coldly as fangs emerged from his teeth and his eyes turned black.

Well then, let's get this night started...
