Jessy's POV

'Please Jess, just once' Pansy begs

'Pans, I'm not comfortable playing and singing my guitar in front of people yet' I say picking at my skin

My best friend Draco puts his hand into mine supportively

'You've done it in front of Draco before' Pansy says

'That's different' Draco says

'How? I'm her best mate as much as you are too' Pansy says

I get up and storm up to my dorm to get my guitar just to shut Pansy up. When I get my guitar I go to my bedside table to get a song I just wrote but haven't told anyone about yet just to surprise them

I get back down to the sitting room of the common room and when Pansy notices I have my guitar her face lights up in delight knowing she got her own way.

I sit down next to Draco where I was before and I set my guitar on my lap safely

'Did you write a new song?' Draco says

'Yeah, I wrote it two days ago' I say

'Let's hear it then' Pansy says excitedly

As you promised me that I was more than all the miles combined
You must have had yourself a change of heart like
Halfway through the drive
Because your voice trailed off exactly as you passed my exit sign
Kept on drivin' straight and left our future to the right

Now I am stuck between my anger and the blame that I can't face
And memories are somethin' even smoking weed does not replace
And I am terrified of weather 'cause I see you when it rains
Doc told me to travel, but there's COVID on the planes

And I love Vermont, but it's the season of the sticks
And I saw your mom, she forgot that I existed
And it's half my fault, but I just like to play the victim
I'll drink alcohol 'til my friends come home for Christmas

And I'll dream each night of some version of you
That I might not have, but I did not lose
Now you're tire tracks and one pair of shoes
And I'm split in half, but that'll have to do

So I thought that if I piled something good on all my bad
That I could cancel out the darkness I inherited from dad
No, I am no longer funny, 'cause I miss the way you laugh
You once called me forever, now you still can't call me back

And I love Vermont, but it's the season of the sticks
And I saw your mom, she forgot that I existed
And it's half my fault, but I just like to play the victim
I'll drink alcohol 'til my friends come home for Christmas

And I'll dream each night of some version of you
That I might not have, but I did not lose
Now you're tire tracks and one pair of shoes
And I'm split in half, but that'll have to do

Oh, that'll have to do
My other half was you
I hope this pain's just passing through
But I doubt it

And I love Vermont, but it's the season of the sticks
And I saw your mom, she forgot that I existed
And it's half my fault, but I just like to play the victim
I'll drink alcohol 'til my friends come home for Christmas

And I'll dream each night of some version of you
That I might not have, but I did not lose
Now you're tire tracks and one pair of shoes
And I'm split in half, but that'll have to do

Have to do

I finish playing the song and I avoid eye contact with Draco and Pansy feeling embarrassed just in case they didn't like the song.

'That was amazing!' Pansy says excitedly

'You're getting better by the day' Draco says proudly

'Thank you' I say blushing

'You need to teach me' Pansy says

'Well, I'd need to go back home to get one of my other guitars. I would let you use this one but this is the last thing I got from my grandad before passed' I say

'Well, the holidays are next week so you can easily get it then' Pansy says

'You coming Pansy?' Blaise says

'Oh yeah. I'll be back later Blaise is taking me out for the day' Pansy says getting up and then walks out with Blaise

'I'm proud of you. After everything you've been through with your family and just everything in general. You've came through stronger than ever' Draco says

'Dray, can I tell you something?' I say turning to face him

'You can tell me anything' Draco says

'I've been really scared to tell you about this but I've developed feelings for you and the song I just showed you and Pansy was really about you and it's fine if you don't feel the same but I don't want to ruin our friendship' I say picking at my skin

'Jess, I feel the same way and the reason I never told you was simply because I thought you're too good for me' Draco says

I close the gap between Draco and I and gently place my lips on his. Draco places his hand and pulls me onto his lap so we're more comfortable.

I wrap my arms around his neck and pull him closer. He moves his hands to hold my waist as the kiss heated

We hear people come into the common room so I quickly move off his lap just in time as Crabbe and Goyle come into view

'You alright Malfoy' Crabbe says

'I'm perfect' Draco says smiling
